Saw some unexpected wildlife.

This was the coolest thing I was flying over Oak Harbor Seaplane base where I lived from 1977 to 80 and I was flying over the swamp and saw a herd of deer grazing and as I flew closer the herd turned suddenly and ran in the woods it looked 100% real it happened fast. Told my dad about it he flew over the same area and didn't see them so I tried again with no luck. Sorry too fast for a screenshot.  Has anyone else seen this in other areas unexpectedly?

I had what I can only think were coyotes on my runway in rural Ontario today! Quite the experience as I had to decide whether to land or abort, they were at the far end of the runway.

Superb!  The new high res terrain makes landing decisions more crucial, so to have animals influencing a landing decision is just great!

Oh no! I am starting to fear that every airport is going to be overrun with wildlife!

Just go to the UK, Cognita, and you'll never see wildlife again. No deer, cattle, sheep, or birds. 😅 I primarily frequent the small strips, so maybe that's the issue.

My first flight from my home airport, YQDI, I saw some kangaroos. It wasn't particularly surprising because I see a lot of them around my place, but on my first flight I thought it must have been staged. I haven't seen any since.

No, that was the bit that stood out to me. Must have been a baa-g.

I'm guessing you go straight through animals just like planes and other humans, but it would be cool if they add collision detection as some point, the same as buildings and trees (and if they add birds, engine-outs if they hit the propeller or get sucked into the turbine would be cool). I remember an old FS2004 (or maybe it was FSX) mission where you fly IFR into some airport in Alaska, and just as you break through the clouds at minimums there is a BEAR in the middle of the runway and you need to fly a missed approach. One of my most memorable MSFS experiences for sure!

I found my default setting was Ultra.  I dialed that back to Low.  I fly the Hondajet mostly, not out of coastal airports, and after takeoff do not expect birds above 1,000 ft, which is less than a minute into the flight!  I do not do any bush flying, or low passes at zoos or wildlife parks.

I hope bunnys and hares are still there in FS2024. They are so cute and sometimes I even see them on the parking lots of airports hopping around.
