November 24, 20241 yr Hello, I recognize this is a broad question and that the answer is likely different depending on the scenery, but I’m wondering generally how well people are getting on with porting their catalogue of freeware sceneries from 2020 to 2024? I have such a big load of freeware airports I’ve accumulated and I’d like to start using some in 2024 but I’m trying to get a sense of whether many are working well or if it’s a lost cause and I should just wait for updates before I start moving stuff over and testing. Thanks for any input. November 24, 20241 yr Coincidence, I started earlier today a post target to dev, like me, amateur. My sceneries load without problem but I have noticed so far taxiway lines have disappeared, vegetation is different and coverage weird for the less, elevation issues, displacement of object (and taxiways) due to some new Bing satellite images, taxiway blue light is horrible (but it's MSFS2024) and objects can pop-up (clipping) as LOD has to be managed differently and aggressively requiring (a lot) of work. Here's just the first feedback and I'm asking in this post other amateur dev what they have noticed. All this, to build my flow&process to upgrade my sceneries. But it's going to be a long path and even some blocker like the LoD problem which is a blocker for me. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by vbazillio Vincent B. November 24, 20241 yr Author Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like the experience may not be great for a lot of them then. Some of the things you’ve listed I could live with until airports can be updated (if they will be) but some of those may make them hard to actually use. Progress is usually good, but it’s too bad we’ve had such a change in one sim generation, hopefully this doesn’t become the norm for future sims. November 24, 20241 yr I've copied all my scenery over but I haven't tried them all yet, but all the ones I have do work, including payware. The Asobo Handcrafted ones seem to take priority though and will load over any conflicts until we have a way to disable them Edited November 24, 20241 yr by Tuskin38

November 24, 20241 yr I have moved a few airports over with mixed results. Some seem fine but others you might get a random texture that is off color for some reason and I have gotten a random tree growing where it don't belong. Overall scenery seems to port over better than airplanes at the moment. Last night I tried the FSS E-Jet series and the plane loads but you only get a selection of a few liveries and the Auto Pilot did not work! One of my frustrations is the location of the community folder. I guess this is fixable and will look into that when I boot the sim up again.

November 24, 20241 yr I have a question for you guys developers: do you know why certain freeware scenery seat themeselves « above » default airport and other slips under. For exemple with frewware LIMA (Torino, Italy) I see double buildings, the one from the default airport and the addon « above ». Do you know what I could do to correct this ? thanks for the help..
November 24, 20241 yr I tested my KSUA enhancement in FS2024, and have set it to be MSFS 2020 only in flightsim.to. This is a very simple scenery with only default MSFS 2020 buildings and items added in to KSUA to make it a bit more "realistic". One of the added stock buildings from MSFS 2020 seems to be missing in 2024, so the space where that building was is now empty. The other buildings that I added in or overlaid on top of existing buildings, all would "pop out" and become invisible at only minimal distance. Hence, all of the add-on buildings I added were "invisible" once up in the air. Based on my very simple airport enhancement, I would say that I would not trust ANY 2020 add-ons being "usable" in 2024 as we were promised. flightsim.to - map

November 24, 20241 yr Where is the Community folder when trying the Flight Sim 2024 with Game Pass? I only know where the Community folder for my Steam FS2020 version is, but I have no experience with Gamepass and just bought it once to have a free demo of the new Flight Sim 2024 before buying it on Steam this christmas... 🙂
