November 30, 20241 yr Commercial Member It entertains me more than it should when one "I'm A rEaL pIlOt" says "X" aircraft flies perfectly, and another says it's not quite as good as "Y" 🙄 It's almost as though different computer systems give different results and why FAA/CAA approved simulators require specific hardware. Like with films, you should always experience things for yourself and take what others say with a large grain of salt. I've unfollowed from quite a few streamers lately who were ignoring huge issues that everyone could see (streaming, textures, etc) because I realised they were more concerned with views than telling the truth. Just an expert flight simmer can understand the potential of a new sim. Since day one I tried al the FS24 liners and I found a very good potential, they need to be improved, but very enjoyable and close to a studio level paid software. There's a lot of long time simmers too who are just another person with an opinion. Most of them have nothing more to add than anyone else. My point is I don't necessarily think anyone who has a Youtube channel should be automatically given any position of authority. Also, quite frankly, people who make money off Youtube are selling clicks, which is why you see one video "MSFS2024 disaster!" followed by "2024 - best sim to date!" a day later. That's not to say there aren't some very good ones out there. I enjoy a few of them, but again, most are just another opinion. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

Veteran simmers who have decades of experience are more authoritative. Jankees for example, he has uninstalled MSFS 2024 and asked for refund. His paintings are exceptional and so is his opinion, although this too is my subjective judgment and probably a bit fallacious. November 30, 20241 yr I suppose when the opinion of an IRL pilot goes against your opinion or the narrative you want to push then you might try to discount them as "cLiCkBaIt!". That's a load of nonsense since these specific experienced IRL pilots are also long-time experienced simmers who've reviewed and used various sims and sim-aircraft over the years: Into The Blue, V1-Simulations, 320 Sim Pilot, Blackbox711, A330 Driver (formerly known as 737 Driver), etc. And ya if theirs and other various IRL pilots (here on avsim) opinions are all over the place then that's one thing, but when all/most of their opinions start to coalesce and pretty much say the same thing, then ya that's very noteable. Apparently these so called pilots are either hard up for extra cash or looking for notoriety on YouTube. They think they know something about flying so they try to tell US what is right and wrong with a game! Seriously I think real professional pilots should stick to what they know best! It's definitely not critiquing MSFS2024 on YouTube. I for one wouldn't waste a lick of time watching these so called experts! If they can't figure out how to setup controls in MSFS2024 what does it say about there ability to troubleshoot a real problem in a real flight? This has to be satire. Right.
November 30, 20241 yr Think there should be a balanced view of IRL pilots that have more of an aim to educate simmers of all sorts, some to alot detail, where reading a bloody 3000 page FCOM would take ages, and seeing it explained visually for tips and tricks and so forth, can be very helpful. Sure there are some who dont know what constructive criticism means, and are out for the click bait show, but gotta give credit to the real ones out there who have been flying these aircraft for a long while and taking the time to show how to handle things properly in a professional manner. Well, they do know something about flying… it’s their job. They’ve studied it and have experienced it far more than simmers have, obviously. As for why they’re on YouTube? It’s very very common for pilots (especially airliner guys) to have multiple jobs, businesses, or even just hobbies. Lots of free time + lots of cash is going to = lots of options. But like mentioned before, I can’t tell if this is serious or supposed to be sarcastic.. I can say the flight model in MSFS isn’t super close to the real thing. It’s not real bad, but there’s always just a rubber band feel to MSFS that doesn’t happen with RW flying. Funny thing though, (depending on the aircraft and dev) it’s a lot better than a lot of the FAA approved Level D sims we use for training… ironic. / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot
