And you chose to brag about 2024 on a thread clearly labeled 2020. 😉

Agreed, I drive a 12 year old GTi as I dislike recent dashboard designs and pointless tech. I'll just keep fixing the current one until it's taxed off the road.

Windows 10 has had 13 version updates since it was released. The original release would probably be less familiar to Windows 10 users today than Windows 11, which is just the latest version of Windows 10 that makes disk encryption a requirement.

Windows 10 is popular. So is McDonald's 😁

Many people don't care or are even aware of what OS they are using.

Totally!

Ridiculous nonsense trying to compare FS2020 VS FS2024 with Windows installs!

I see the potential in 2024, they clearly did a lot of work under the hood. I surprising have not had a problem with loading or streaming and the sim does look great out of the box, the ground and flight models have been improved, the mountains look much, much better and the ground is more realistic.

But I too am thinking of uninstalling it and going back to 2020. The holidays are coming up and I want to have some time to actually fly. Yesterday I had three crashes, two of which took out flights that were up at cruise. There is no ability to access the things we purchased from the marketplace, a lot of things are not yet compatible or if they are they do not have installers, and the night-lighting looks absolutely terrible. Just so many small bugs that taken together start to undermine the experience. I think I will see what the patch brings this week and try a few more flights but if there is not a significant improvement I may too be back on 2020 for the foreseeable future.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

11 just released an update last week that had bugs in it. https://www.zdnet.com/article/the-revolving-door-of-windows-11-24h2-bugs-10-reasons-to-avoid-this-update-for-now/

The mountains in MSFS 2020 may not look as realistic as those in MSFS 2024, but they still look very good.....and that's the point. If you are happy with how everything looks in your current simulator, then accepting the issues that you already know about is often a lot better than taking a gamble, and hoping that you can live with a new set of issues that you are not familiar with.

Better the devil you know....

When using the Map Enhancement mod with Latest Bing in HD is really looks way better than the default MSFS 2020.

Much more ground detail and more realistical looking environment.

I asked a couple of weeks ago, and nobody seems to know the answer. What map is being used in 2024, the New BING map, or the old one that is still being used in 2020?  If it is the new Bing map in 2024, why don't they just start using it in 2020 ( which is what the map enhancement mod does ), or is just a deliberate move to make 2024 look a bit better than 2020? It can't be that difficult for them to change it.

Fortunately I'm mostly absent from the 'coalface' of IT support these days, but in this brave new world of 'cloud', everything is being updated all the time, and sometimes badly. It's like getting in your car and finding the gearstick is now mounted on the roof.

Microsoft have put somerestrictions on 24H2 to prevent installation on incompatible hardware. My virtual machines and work PC have updated themselves, but it hasn't been offered to my gaming PC yet. You can pull it down manually, but I'm going to wait, just in case...

I forced an install of 24H2 a few weeks ago. Works fine with MSFS, work and everything else. Understandable to prefer to wait for it to be offered though.

I can imagine that the current MSFS 2024 Bing map is the same as the Latest Bing map. But with corrected color differences and better cloud removal.

Not 100% sure though.

Neither stock MSFS2020 or 2020 with the latest Bing Map showed my house but MSFS2024 does so I'm not sure what they are using.

almost 2/3 of windows users still use windows 10, in fact users of windows 10 vs 11, percentage has been increasing lately

Most of the 2/3's you are talking about probably can't update to Win11 because of the new TPM 2.0 requirements. I have Win11 at home and can't come up with a single reason to go back to Win10, my personal experience with 11 has been quite positive in every way.

The REALLY cool people are using sub-Alpha FS2028 running on Windows 12 (insider version). Supposedly, the lav toilets can actually flush.. finally.
