Much more ground detail and more realistical looking environment. I completely agree with you. I never used 2020 without the Map Enhancement Mod. However, once the 4,000 percent increase in ground resolution has been seen in 2024, 2020 will always lose now imho. After just a couple of weeks with a default 2024, the number of mods required to fix the poor lighting and colours in 2020 just doesn't do for me now. And combine that with the Map Enhancement Mod ( Latest Bing - HD ) and It looks so much better than a vanilla MSFS 2020. When MSFS 2024 is much more stable and both Prosim + Wideview + AIG have been made compatible than I will go to MSFS 2024 and do the same. If 2024 hadn't been released I would be using it today and be very happy. I have 3500 hours in MSFS 2020, but I just can't use it anymore because default 2024 looks as good or better without the need for all these mods to make it look good. 2024 completely vanilla - all looks good without a single mod or the need to change OS level settings to get colours and lighting more realistic. Also the details in mountains in 2020 now show they can't stand up to 2024. The Map Enhancement Tool adds detail to the terrain, but 2024 details are REAL details, not something in a texture. December 9, 20241 yr Very happy for you but I came to read and see videos of 2020 in the 2020 thread, not have someone tell us how it can't stand up to 2024 and start posting videos. Plenty of 2024 threads for that... Do you see a bunch of people standing around the previous model car to yours and walk up to tell them how much better the later model is and how you can never go back to the one they are driving? Things also look a lot different in a bi-plane at 60 kts than in an airliner at 250+. Not denying anything about '24 but this isn't the thread to start comparing them, it's a thread about 2020 and how it still looks great which it does... Some of us are still quite happy with what we have. No map or lighting mods here either. Edited December 9, 20241 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

I need to look up getting the mod for latest bing, about 80% of Virginia in the US is the green road type low res type. I’m hoping the latest data will improve it.

Nice vids. MSFS 2024 surely looks good out of the box. Better looking ground surface with bolders and more detailed grass. However, what I see onscreen looks ar least as good. Probably because I am a jetflyer and therefor I only see detail from a distance. And 3rd party airports probably look the same in MSFS 2024 right now as then are only ported over. And because I have tweaked the look and feel of MSFS 2020 It looks so different from the vanilla version. The Map Enhancement Mod’s Latest Bing HD textures looks so good and are 4x more detailed/sharper than the default MSFS 2020 textures. When I switch to MSFS 2024 I will also try making it look even more realistic. For now I am very satisfied and will wait for a more stable MSFS 2024 and for a few apps to become compatible. This thread is about 2020 so Paul is right about what he has written. Everything else you wrote is how you see it. Some made the switch the day MSFS 2024 was released and others are waiting till issues have been solved and their addons will work with MSFS 2024. And some are happy with their MSFS 2020 config and all their working addons and have decided to stay this way. And seeing all those issues imho a lot of people are stil waiting to make the jump. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

December 10, 20241 yr I see comments about the Map Enhancement Mod enabling higher quality terrain textures in MSFS 2020, but I have no need of them. The standard Bing terrain textures look excellent on my PC 99.9% of the time. Maybe Europe is generally of a higher and more consistent quality than other parts of the world?
