No to either.

In MSFS the extended loading time is true, in MSFS24 additional liveries for AI does not seem to affect loading times noticeably.

But performance impact is neglible in both, at least with AIG models.

I will give it another try once I am able to install AIG or FSLTL (on my computer without MSFS2020).

i have BATC on a second screen, but there is also an msfs toolbar option. download it here https://www.beyondatc.net/download , it is called 'VR Toolbar'. download it, extract it and copy the folder

Yes, it can be used without a microphone via user interface and button control and/or automatic copilot handling most comms for you.

regarding mapping a keybind to display the 'BeyondATC Toolbar', i just came across this in the discord... 'can be mapped to "ATC Choice 0" in MSFS controls settings'

I would simply wait until the AIG models are made compatible. Can't take that long.

If you want to learn much more about BATC, get on their discord page.

They better had written a manual rather than supporting their product on Discord. To me Discord is too chaotic. I am of a generation  that is used to meters of shelves laden with IBM mainframe manuals. Discord to me is cheer disaster 🙂

No, not yet. I will go there the minute I finished my first flight with BATC in about an hour. Thanks for pointing me to that page. I was under the impression that support etc. only was given via Discord. In that aspect I stand corrected.

I've visited Discord & watched YT videos and I still prefer to come to AVSIM for more info. This community usually gets us up and going better than most other options.

BTW, Discord sucks!

It's not my favorite place to visit either. I am sure lots of folks love Discord. I guess we are too used to Avsim to appreciate Discord.

LOL it is to me too! unfortunately almost anything i buy to do with msfs needs me to hunt for info in their discord channels. now i just open it in a morning and check if anything has been updated by checking the 'announcements' channels for ifly, pmdg, batc, vraas, hype and fsfo. if not i close it til the next morning. give me manuals that i can read, not more software i have to login to and fight my way past people posting cat pictures to find info regarding actually flight simming!

I first check if I'm still alive 🙂 OK, back to the topic. Just completed my first flight using BATC. I guess I have to get used to it but so far, during an 2.5 hrs. flight, I like it. It seems that BATC used a lot of CPU, though. CPU temperatures are going quite high. No problem, I've got a bucket with water standing next to me.

Kind regards,

Is this generally true for most users?  What would you estimate the increase in CPU demand is?

Almost every good add on today is using Discord. I had a question about BATC this morning, posted it on Discord, and within 10 seconds, I got an answer that worked.

Yeah, post a problem on Avsim, and wait a few hours or days with a 50% chance of not getting the correct answer. Thanks, but no thanks.

I just looked at my CPU usage for BATC, 5.2%

I am measuring this increase not in percentages but in CPU temperatures. Since the release of FS2024 the average of my CPU's temperature, while FS2024 is running, is in between 60 and 65 degrees Centigrade. Of course it varies a bit depending on which sceneries are active and what the weather is like. Since I don't care about FPS I use these temperatures as a guideline of CPU usage. My max FPS is set at 50% of my refresh rate, 37 FPS. Today I used BATC on a flight from EDDS to LGAV for the first time and  temperatures were varying between 68 degrees and 73 degrees. This led me to the conclusion that BATC might be using a lot of CPU power. Of course this is not a scientific prove that it does, it is just my observation. I will monitor usage again tomorrow and see if the results will be more or less the same.

Kind regards,
Hans van WIjhe

That was quick. But I cannot convince myself yet to also frequent Discord regularly, it is just not my cup of tea. Oh well.
