Beyond ATC microphone-less

It doesn't have the taxi map either (also a sim limitation). Otherwise it works the same as the desktop app.

How do I access the Taxi map on the main ap? That's the other thing I was unable to test. I'm so used to using the airport diagram.

Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge on this thread. Very helpful!

Yes, it can be used without a microphone via user interface and button control and/or automatic copilot handling most comms for you.

regarding mapping a keybind to display the 'BeyondATC Toolbar', i just came across this in the discord... 'can be mapped to "ATC Choice 0" in MSFS controls settings'

There's a little map pin icon in the bottom right corner of the main interface once you're in a live flight. Click on it and it opens the taxi map/airport diagram in the UI.

There's a separate Traffic Viewer you can download from the BATC website which also shows you all the traffic around you both on the ground and in the air.

That's cool! But I also see now the toolbar interface misses the colored thingies which shows the latest instructions from ATC. I think it's a bit too limited for me.

I will keep on using the regular UI. Now if only they'd add more button control...

Thanks.

I will check it out today.

I was trying to assign a button to pop up the main UI, but couldn't get it to work. I will try the toolbar and see if that works. I can always just try "0" as suggested. Anything is better than the ALT key.

Someone a few posts ago rightly mentioned that the pop out via button only works when BATC is not in focus. For example, if you click on the UI then the pop out button won't work. You need to click someone in your sim/desktop first to bring that into focus before the button works again.

I can't get the toggle to work either. I've assigned it to the A button on my wireless controller, but I can close the window using the A button but can't bring up BATC back up again. Doesn't matter which window I click on.

In short: the toggle to bring the window back up doesn't work as long as the BATC windows is still active (which it can be even in the background). Click on another window to make the toggle work again.

A bit off-topic now that the subject is hot 🙂 Now that I finally got all to work, I wonder if I need to disable all FS' own AI aircraft? At the moment I (BATC) is working with FSLTL as its aircraft base and doing a fine job.

BATC won't do anything with the AI traffic generated by MSFS or even know it's there. It's recommended to disable the in sim AI traffic and don't run any other traffic injectors alongside BATC.

Thanks, I'll disable FS's AI traffic right away.

I myself have BATC traffic set to OFF so it only controls me. I have MSFS2024 traffic at High. And I use LiveATC for background chatter. Works like a charm.

Reasons to do this:
- the airports I visit usually are completely dead with BATC traffic
- the liveries BATC needs hit performance badly and extends loading time. And besides: I can't install those liveries since I have only MSFS2024 installed.
- default MSFS 2024 traffic makes the world really come alive and the new models look great. Plus I love all the GA and stuff moving around.
- LiveATC won't prevent me from talking and doesn't get in the way when things are (too) busy and it sounds a LOT more realistic. I also can lower the volume as suited. BTW I do notice that LiveATC gives me a LOT more conversations than BATC does in the same regions. BATC often is to dead where I usually fly. It's absolutely great though at controlling me. 😉

No to either.

In MSFS the extended loading time is true, in MSFS24 additional liveries for AI does not seem to affect loading times noticeably.

But performance impact is neglible in both, at least with AIG models.
