I look at this differently. Yes, pricing is a consideration, but it is not the only one. PMDG's biggest issue is its constant change in decisions, hazy statements, and bombastic announcements that say nothing. They also complain about every flight simulator platform they have worked on/with, while the competition has had no issues. Despite knowing the bugs, PMDG is not fixing any product entirely, and there is poor quality control and a terrible approach/attitude toward customers reporting bugs.
Absolutely, there is no perfect software; they must realize they are not the only ones out there anymore. Unfortunately, they can't snap out of this illusion, and competition is taking over. I wish they would overcome their egos and smell the roses.

Unless someone brings a 737NG or 777 to the table, PMDG does not have any problems. Even the Maddog or MD11, higher priced and with considerably less sales, are profitable in these MSFS times.
Could they lose market share from people that only buy *one* study level aircraft? Sure, but they are not going "out of the market" anytime soon.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

When all said and done, even though he has chosen to publish a long video, this is just one more
person's perspective, that we can all choose to agree with, disagree with or indeed partially agree
or disagree with.
It has no more value than that and there are a good many flaws in his logic, such as "3.5 new products
every day", as if they were all competing aircraft with PMDG's product catalogue.

At the beginning, he undermines his own case by pointing out that the Beoing 777 for P3D was $139.99,
yet today, the same aircraft for MSFS is $74.99.
Still not cheap, but following the downward trend in pricing that he says that PMDG are not doing.

Whether it's flight simulation software, or anything else, there will always be a range of pricing between
different producers and we customers are free to choose.

I on the other hand completely agree with the guy. I was with PMDG almost from the start, my first addon was their 737, back in 2003, and as the time went along, I have bought every aircraft they released, 747 all variants, MD11, even the Beechcraft 1900D. Over FS9, FSX, P3D1-4, MSFS2020 and now MSFS2024. And while back then, the premium price was completely justified, because it stood up so much above everything else, it is not any more today. Simply, because it doesn't stand up above everything else. I so much wanted to buy the 777, and maybe even would have, were it available for MSFS2024, but thinking and reading all a long, I am finding myself less and less interested into it. The main reason is the price, I simply don't see it worth the money.

And this is coming from a person who pre-ordered MSFS2024.

hmmm, who keeps coming back here whenever the topic is 'pmdg' and keeps making bombastic statements--essentially an 'overplayed broken record?'

btw, all pmdg 737 models are 30% off over on msfs marketplace, 736 $25, 737 $49, 738  $49, 739 $35.  ain't bad.

PMDG would certainly have enough market and sales data to know if their pricing was an issue or not and I expect if it was they’d make a change.  A few people complaining about prices being too high doesn’t mean they haven’t set their pricing at a commercially successful level.

At the end of the day, their products may not be as bleeding edge as they once were,  but they’re generally well done, and are the only real game in town for MSFS if you want to fly a 737NG or 777.

I get that some people find PMDG as a company, or RSR as an individual, annoying,  but honestly, who cares?  Life is too short to get worked up over one player in a vast hobby.  Either go enjoy their aircraft or don’t.

Really, check this "bombastic" statement:

Want to know how PMDG started and how it operates? Our Fearless Leader Robert Randazzo (aka RSR) sits down and talks to Captain Kenobi.

don't get it.  he seems like a reasonable bloke who took his hobby and turned it into a job and employment for his team.   didn't see horns or a tail so maybe he's not the devil incarnate as the usual suspects here paint him to be.

@LRBS; you understand that irony doesn’t really translate very easily?

As to the video, me thinks Flightsim Labs release of yet another Airbus - at a premium price no less - has blown his theory out of the water.

You are 100% correct, you don't get it, I was referring to this " Our Fearless Leader Robert Randazzo (aka RSR) . Nothing related to his hobby.

Arguing about price reminds me of J. P. Morgan's comment, "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it!"  PMDGs products are highly detailed, as true to the actual aircraft as possible, constantly being evaluated and faults corrected as any on the market now.  There's a lot of sour grapes about the lack of MSFS2024 versions of PMDGs products, that that platform is questionable.

I have no issue with their pricing.  Yes I'm still hoping for a 3rd party replacement sound for the 777.  Although in the 2nd video linked above he does mention they are aware of the sounds and plan a total replacement of them.  To be honest I can't wait for the 744
