I've been testing BATC for a few weeks and I really like it. I do want to ask, is this a work in progress?

My first few flights were great. The last few ended with no ATC interaction or chatter just before the arrival. I've had more success with the premium voices on my last two flights.

This morning while landing at KMIA, airliners were cleared to line up and wait while I was landing. After landing, Tower for got about me. I saw airliners moving toward taxiways while taking off. I also saw an airliner moving really fast toward the runway.

I thought that the add-on was mostly ready. So far, it looks like there's a lot that needs to be done to get it right.

So my conclusion is that it sill needs work. Feel free to chime in.

Well yes, it's called Early Access, there's that.. Apart from that I've not had for 3 or 4 months what you experienced (tower forgot about me), so I tend to think it's some sort of user error or misunderstanding in there, no offense really. In my opinion (and please mind my disclaimer below) it's in a very good shape and could easily be called "stable", but the devs want to add VFR and other stuff before they consider it the "full" version IIRC.

If you get on Discord and post your logs someone can check where it went wrong.

Yes, this is very much a work in progress and they have not launched a 'ver 1.0' of the product yet.

Didn't you get the disclaimer that it was Early Access when you installed it? It clearly said Early Access for me when I installed it, and it had a paragraph or two on the expectations because it was Early Access.

BATC seems reasonable for airliners and jets.  Aka when youre flying structured STARS and SIDS jet routes etc.  Where it typically fails me is low level Joe Blow C172 IFR stuff.  Sometimes it won't even vector me to the approach.  It does totally non sensical things like descend me far too low on a visual approach.  I've talked to the devs and they don't yet have MIA/MVA logic I guess.  Unfortunately that's super important for GA flight.  Also I tend to get super wide vectors away from my flight plan - semi annoying when you're only flying at 120-180 knots.  Or I'll get a super long ils final like 20-30 mi when intercepting (if the heading to intercept even works).

They need to add some logic to cancel IFR for uncontrolled airports or even add radio so you could call on the ground to cancel.

It's definitely not the app you'd want to do IFR practice approaches.  I'm not sure if we can even ask for a different approach.

So 7/10 for airliners and 4/10 for GA ops imo.

I have been getting sometimes 2 or 3 updates per week ( in fact I just now got an update). They are constantly improving it. Question, after you landed, did you clear the runway stop bars and move onto the taxiway?

i just had quite a harrowing flight from EDDF to LEBL using beyondATC and ActiveSky, turbulence and wind shear. almost turned me on to my side twice, was dropping me @8500-11000fpm and then took my speed from 250 to 120! i reported severe turbulence to beyondATC controller. thanked me for making my report, then asked me if i require assistance. i thought hmmmm how is she going to assist me here, so i said affirmative, her reply made me start laughing.....


"Lufthansa RK, you're seriously reporting EXTREME turbulence inside Microsoft Flight Simulator and asking a robot for assistance. Ok let me just wave my magic airplane wand for you." 😆

Yes. That when I began to observe the AI behavior. Waited and waited but no contact ground.

Early Access disclaimer. LOL

I'm not complaining. I love the capabilities & promise of the add-on. I intend to keep on trying it because I'll take half of flight or 3/4 of it with an amazing ATC add-on than another second of default atc. I was just wondering if setting AI to default 5 is better than 7. Will try with lower settings and FSLTL.

Like MSFSS 24, it will be amazing when it matures.

When you log into BATC in the Main Menu screen there's a Roadmap button on the bottom that shows what's been done and what the upcoming roadmap for development is. Quite a ways to go as you can see there.

I did the flight again (KBKV-KMIA) and everything was smooth until I arrived at LatinVFR KMIA rnw 8R and the tower again cleared an airliner to taxi into position while I was on short final. I landed and got of the runway quickly. I watched as the airliner took off runway 8R and slowly veered to the left then took off near a taxiway. I was then asked to contact ground.

Could this be a LatinVFR KMIA issue? Maybe some airports need to be properly developed to work with BATC?
