I think having crazy high frame rates will solve some of the visual artifacts DLSS FG can produce, so in that regard could really be some icing on the cake. So you can't say DLSS 4.0 works on all cards just like that. And the stuff that DOES work on older cards is either beta or a function most older cards can't really handle anyway. So if you really want to enjoy DLSS 4.0 to the fullest you really do need a 500XX card. And a 40XX card will allow you to also enjoy most of it. At least that's how I see it after watching a few video's and reading some more about it. 4 hours ago, turbomax said: I love it when these editors can not even copy the press announcement text correctly. 1) "DLSS 4.0 will only work on the new GeForce RTX 50XX cards." WRONG . DLSS 4 Super Resolution supported on ALL RTX cards, same that we are using already, just a newer version with better image quality. I also think this has to do with most people looking at DLSS as a performance improvement option and then specially FG. The stuff that works on older cards is nice but not too interesting. It doesn't help here that nVidia calls everything DLSS, I think.

So I don't use it. Time to eat my words. After seeing the spectacular results of FG in MSFS2024 on my new laptop with its 4070 I gave Lossless Scaling another try on my triple monitor 3090 desktop. It gave an FPS boost of at least 50% on the central monitor and the slowdown on the side ones wasn't as distracting as I remembered. But this was the first time I've tried LS on MS2024 - wonder if it handles things differently?

I am not wrong, you are. I never said ALL aspects of DLSS4 will work with ALL cards. DLSS4 will work with all RTX cards per NVIDIA and that is what I stated. Some components within DLSS4 will not work with all cards. Eric
January 16, 20251 yr Just navigate to the official Nvidia website to see exactly what each series card (2x- 5x) will have regarding DLSS and FG. Scroll down the homepage page and click on RTX Technology “DLSS 4” to get to the DLSS subpage then scroll halfway down for the chart: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/ Hopefully this should clear up the confusions… Edited January 16, 20251 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp

The multi-frame is 5xxx exclusive only. From article: In our testing, DLSS 4 on a RTX 4080 showed notable improvements: On Quality mode, the frame rate increased by 25%-40% compared to running the game without DLSS enabled. In Performance mode, frame rates were up by over 50%, which was especially noticeable when flying in highly detailed areas like New York City or London at dawn or dusk. Night lighting, especially airport taxi and runway lighting, are far too dim under DLSS when compared to TAA. Hopefully DLSS4 fixes this once and for all. Eric

Ghosting is almost gone and I definitely don't have the night lighting being too dim issue. The tiny bit that's left is worth it for me compared to the constant fluidity of the sim It's amazing to me actually how much the moon dictates night lighting in MSFS. The last few nights here in NJ it's looked like I left the light on in the yard when I wake up to go to the bathroom (lol) The full moon with no clouds over here has literally lit the sky up and sure enough I'm on a flight tonight and the sky is almost blue whereas a couple of weeks ago the sky was pitch and I mean pitch black to the point I couldn't make out if it was clouds or Ocean beneath me. I am on v 3.8 of the DLSS files as well. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 17, 20251 yr based on the previews of DLSS 4 SuperResolution upscaling and AMD's FSR4 I am slightly optimistic this will be a big step forward, much more so than any previous version, while raytracing, path tracing and slightly increased latency won't affect us.
