I am convinced he will happily return it after seeing the results. it was a whole different story 2 years ago when the 4090 came out. had Nvidia made DLSS4 exclusive to the RTX 5000 it would be a different story. but they couldn't this time. February 4, 20251 yr Where he was getting 60 fps with 9800X3D, 5090, so would I get 60fps with 5800X3D and 4070. But he was using 4K, DLSS DLAA and no frame generation. I would be using 1440p, DLSS Balanced, and frame generation on. So mine is far less screen resolution, two steps down in quality on DLSS, and frame generation. So that's about 1/2 times 1/2 times 1/2 or a total of 1/8 the quality I'm getting in order to run the same fps. He's getting about 8 times the quality that I am! 😞 Edited February 4, 20251 yr by Fielder 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Seriously though, in the worst scenarios, (traffic, heavy scenery, & plane) FPS, even on my system can drop into the low-mid 20's. 4x will ensure everything at least appears smooth. I also don't think the ghosting/artifacts will really be that bad, at least from the few reviews that are out there...but we need a flight simmer to do some actual testing and vids in situations that we'd be familiar with. If the new DLSS is any indication, I think they did a wonderful job on the software side. I'm not going to focus on absolutely every artifact, simply because they're pretty far and few between. My biggest gripes with 2020 was the smearing using DLSS and the stair step effect with TAA..both of those have mostly been remedied, just with a new version of DLSS. I can only imagine what the new AI can do with frame gen and the hardware. Having said that, I think in this case it makes the most sense to go straight for the top shelf; 32 GB of VRAM alone will likely help reduce bottlenecks. Turns out there is a happy medium LOL I've been 60 FPS @60Hz since G-Sync and 60 FPS x2 @120Hz since Lossless scaling. Never had a better simming experience in my life. What happens when you decide to get a really high-res VR setup and are suddenly driving the equivalent of 2-5 4k monitors instead of that HD one? AI seems to be the way when raw GPU raster improvement seems to have come pretty much to a stand still. unfortunately the 5090's expected 25% fps increase for MSFS won't cut it for me. Yeah, if I had a 4080/90 or even maybe a 3090, I'd absolutely not be looking at the 5090. But upgrading from the 3070Ti with its pathetic vram makes more sense than going from a 4090. I stayed on a 1080Ti until well into MSFS2020 when I got my first VR headset. It was still doable, but I had to turn the sliders overly far down to pull it off. The 2x series cards simply weren't that compelling to me, especially since the only thing they really offered over the 1x series was raytracing and... Eh. It's nice I guess, but certainly wasn't worth the expense of upgrading from what I already had. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light
