June 9, 2025Jun 9 I would advice the 2020 people to stay with 2020 and the 2024 people to stay with 2024. And do not upgrade to 2024 if you are having doubts or issues. Asobo is working on it so it will improve and improve. As I do not have issues with 2024 and it looks a little better than modded 2020 it is my main sim. Stutters when turning, stutters when rotating, stutters when landing. I simply don't get this on 2020 with more demanding settings. It's not an emotional argument and I really dont care what other people use. I just want Asobo to support 2020 as long as possible and not force us all on to 2024, which for me isn't a great product. I've been really disappointed, but each to their own. Yeah, idk happened but the new LOD system is such a regression from 2020 in SU2 and SU3. It's not even worth the marginal performance boost because it's so aggressive with blurry ground textures at like 300 LOD and AI traffic looking like origami if you're too far. I might just stick with 2020 for next year or so. No need to wait for devs to port over. The only downside is the A350 Performance, which is so bad in 2020 compared to 2024 but everything else is on par for both sims (PMDG, Fenix, etc)

Did I wish I didn't have to run all the mods? Yes of course. But I get near perfect flights every time. My only fear is one day MSobo will say, "sorry we're turning the servers off, over to 2024 you go!"

By that time 2024 might have become a stable sim, used and loved by many of us. By then we would probably be too busy destroying MSFS 2028 to even notice 2020 is no longer supported 😆 Edited June 10, 2025Jun 10 by Rimshot Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
June 11, 2025Jun 11 Well after perusing this thread, its competitor "Staying with 2024", the one about controller setup in 2024 and having just gone through the laborious process of changing all my camera bindings to work with Chaseplane (which I like very much) I will not be moving to 2024 until Chaseplane is supported. Having looked at a few YT vids I think I could come to grips with the 2024 controller setup but would want to see how Chaseplane gets integrated into 2024 before making the move. Now this may take some time but in the interim I am very satisfied about the way 2020 runs on my system and find it hard to imagine how the visuals could be improved (with Active Sky, Atmos, Map Enhancement etc). Of course the move will have to be made eventually as developers drop support for 2020 but happy to wait until Chaseplane at least is supported. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Same people, same comments. They simply dislike the fact that most users appear to remain with 2020. "Me got New Thing...me love New Thing. Die, old thing, die!" I've been seeing this attitude on AVSIM for as long as I can remember. FSX vs FS9, P3D vs FSX. P3Dv4 vs P3D/FSX, etc... Just like some people can't be happy in their own skin, some can't be happy in their own sim...

There are some on these forums who literally said 2020 is a dead sim and no different than FS9, FSX and P3d to them... Actually I think someone called it Dead in this very thread. They killed it off the day '24 was released despite it still being very much alive, still getting updates and still being supported. It's like I had a 2024 car and once they announced the 2025 models suddenly my 2024 car was undrivable LOL. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
