I think it's great there's so many Carenados as Default aircraft included with the sim - they're engaging and beautifully rendered as always.

And I bought a handful back in the P3D / XP 11 days (usually paired with the REP upgrade).

But I can't see why I'd pay for a Carenado today unless it's something particularly compelling.

For Piston GA, I'll stick with A2A and FSW - it's cheaper & more satisfyingin the long run, IMHO.

If you're not seeing a reg number it could be because you're using NBSP 3x characters in a aircraft.cfg or in the sim UI (this is what I do to try to delete the dynamic registration from my hand painted liveries).

Kind of.  There's a big difference in 2024 with how accessible aircraft are.  In order to access the files you have to open developer mode and open Virtual File System or VFS.  Some files are still encrypted though.

What in tarnation can they be thinking?  The NIHS is more than obvious.  Are they taking after Apple, attempting to thwart "jailbreaks".  Do they even know the most basic that users wish to accomplish is the limit the appearance sometimes of innumerable ugly liveries that appear as choices, as one example.

Yeah unfortunately piracy really puts a damper on community mods and creation.  I was able to access LOD 1 of the 182 but there is currently no gltf importer the works with 2024 models.  Some people have programmed some scripts to sort of allow painting on certain models (that's why we have paints for some).  I think a old school 2D paint would be possible but I don't paint like that anymore.  I'm hoping I'll be able to do a 3d paint eventually.  I have a few lovely sky lanes I'd like to paint.

They're probably losing more with piracy though if I had to guess (if the files were totally accessible like when you buy a 2020 carenado from their site).

If you want a 182 with steam gauges and a dual GTN750/650 config as I did, I'd say yes. If you don't care for that, I'd say no.

Ugh. Guess I can find understanding of that.  After 45+ years in this activity I have never even picked up a scent of piracy.  Understand it may exist.  Just with all that experience cannot find any measurement.

The engine sound seems to be much better than the 2020 CT182T, witch is horrible, I may pick up this one when I move over to 2024.
