PMDG Ops Centre - reduced functionality from 30/6/25.

I don't know if you all have seen the latest post from PMDG - but apparently PMDG ops 2 to have reduced functionality from 30th June 2025 for P3D meaning no access to inhouse liveries or updates. Another good reason I am not going to invest in PMDG moving forward even in MSFS.

The statement is buried in a long post. Here’s the relevant bit…

Further to that line of effort, we will be moving all of our legacy Prepar3D products to End-of-Lifecycle effective 30JUNE25. Beyond this date, we will no longer provide support for these products, although customers will still maintain access to them via their PMDG eCommerce accounts if they wish to install them. We have not released any new titles in Prepar3D for five years and obviously no more are forthcoming. This change should result in very little impact to customers, except that we will deprecate use of PMDG Operations Center 2 and that will reduce the tools effectiveness to only installing 3rd party liveries.

I recognize that these changes will disappoint some users, but we have managed through these transitions previously and there is a natural flow of users to the newer platform. If there was only a small effort required to maintain work on both platforms we would continue to do so- but if we are to avoid getting mired in maintaining just the same products in a stagnant state, we must move with the majority of customers and recognize that progress is ever forward, even for a company like ours that prides itself in the long-term support of our products.

This feels pretty bad. Bought the PMDG products back at the end of 2023… if only I knew PMDG was basically gonna completely shut it all down in less than 2 years.. wish they had some decency and at least let you download the planes in their up-to-date version, keep some bare minimum of operation center 2 working, etc.

I think this is pretty clear:

I've posted on their forum as I'm unsure about what some of his statements mean especially regarding extra liveries.

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/351440-12apr25-your-weekend-update-on-nearly-all-things-pmdg?p=351658#post351658

@Blasb, I don't think it means you won't be able to fly aircraft you've purchased. That would be going too far.

Perhaps just download all the liveries and keep them unused in your hangar.

This statement appears to confirm what you say... "we will deprecate use of PMDG Operations Center 2 and that will reduce the tools effectiveness to only installing 3rd party liveries."

I've installed around 15-20 extra liveries this morning and if users can continue to do so then everything would appear to be okay. I don't use the CC for any other purpose.

LOL, they’re already calling MS2020 a dead sim . I would hate to be a horse or dog belonging to those people. As soon as a new one comes along you’re dead. Seems stability is not one of their favorite things.

Why are you straight-up lying about what they said? What's the point?

PMDG just repeated what MS/Asobo says about 2020. It doesn't offer them (MS/Asobo) the "growth path" they need.

My interpretation: "We've milked this as much as we can. We need a new source of revenue"
