For what it’s worth I’ve posted the problem in the Microsoft Windows forum. Hopefully someone will respond with a permanent solution. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_11-

I found a possible solution elsewhere for the slow panning for chaseplane in FSX and it now seems to be working normally for the moment.....Click the setting "always on top."  I would be interested to see if this works for others? Turning off advanced features seems to work too but I end up with jerky panning and zooming. Once Fsx is in full screen, Chaseplane is working "behind the scene" and so far so good.

Can confirm, had the same slow pan/stutter bug, and "always on top" seems to have fixed it. Windows 11 Insider build 27823.

I installed the Windows updates again today to check if they had changed something fixing the issue. Unfortunately not.

The Always on Top works for about 2 seconds moving around before the stalling sets in again, at least on my machine. It is like the other modifications of settings. First moment it works, look at it a little longer its back to broken again.

Exactly the same results here. I think it's a Windows update that's broken something since clearly the CP code hasn't changed in years.

Hopefully Microsoft will find and fix the issue. Has anyone reported this to them?

EDIT: I've reverted to another windows build, which solved the problem by the looks of it. My last flight was the 16th of March, and 2 updates between then and now. Both were removed, and it's fixed. Windows build: 26100.3476.

I've removed windows update(s): KB5054979, KB5055523, KB5050577 & 5053656. I've looked up a guide to skip these updates as well to not have it happen again.

Let me know if this works for you guys.

I've uninstalled 979 and 523 only at this stage and all appears well again. The other two don't appear for me. I've paused updates until 1/6/25.

Thank you very much for your excellent detective work. 👏

I think this is a sufficiently important issue for an entry in P3D Tips and Tricks. If Microsoft Updates reinstall these at a later stage it will be necessary for users to perform this action again.

Could you post the actions in T&T please and I'll lock it. Thanks!

@G-RFRY I doubt these Videos from Adam do contribute to the issue here. If you found the solution in these videos, please tell us here in a few words, what you've found.

It's not really something for Tips and Tricks since it's going to change in the future. I fear, we will have to install these updates somewhere in the future. I did not report to Microsoft about the problem of Chaseplane. I think //42 should do that cause maybe they listen to software developers. I'm only a user of this legacy product and fear will soon have to learn to live without it.

Unfortunately I must agree. How long can we keep avoiding the windows updates as they most certainly do pertain to security. I already get an abundance of scam emails and I certainly don’t want these idiots getting into my new computer.

Okay so let’s see how things pan out. If the contents of those updates can be identified perhaps there’s a way to block them. Microsoft should be able to advise if a formal ticket is raised.

Given it only affects panning with the hat alternatives solutions might be possible. Using the numpad keys is fine.

Your recommendation seems to be working for me with the panning issue however I still can't zoom with the mouse wheel. I can still use Chaseplane quite effectively.
