Hi Dan,

When I pan I am usually using the middle mouse button and have the MB Pan & Tilt (I think its the 1st option for the MB buttons enabled in the Preferences/Camera tab). I have not configured any coolie hat on my joystick to pan around.

Much of the time I have dispensed with panning as I have quite a few preset views already defined for the VC so I tend not to pan that much these days.

When the MB is enabled in CP, so far I have found the CP panning for me, whether moving left or right or up or down seems pretty smooth and continuous and have not noticed a big change there.

 

So it sounds like we have different config set up to do the panning in CP. The other difference is I still sit on P3D v5.3.

I just tried MSFS. Horrible. Feels like flying in GTA back in the days. No way, those MSFS (PMDG 777) developer guys must be joking. Im happy for those who can enjoy it, but Im not one of them.

Did anyone of you try Ezdok? Or any workaround?

@Christoph123 I bought ezdok two days ago and after much trial and error as well as going over the manual and googling for help I am finally scratching the services of everything this amazing app offers. Certainly not as intuitive as CP but the ground, flight and body motions physics is imo far superior. Especially on the ground it just feels more like what you see in videos. Turbulence effects can interact with Active Sky. Works fine and not affected by the recent windows update that kicked the panning in CP. 

What I like is you can set up multiple hat switches for panning. For example I use my A320 side stick for a steering tiller so if my left hand is on that or my Bravo yoke I always have a hat switch under my thumb to pan around.

It’s adios chaseplane for me. 
It can be a very frustrating Learning curve but quite rewarding as you become more familiar with. Highly recommend if you have patience.

That is what makes this type of problem solving so difficult, everyone has different combinations of programs.

I'm on home too and it occurs to me. It is clearly associated with the problemativ windows updates not the windows version.

I use P3Dv5.3 and I'm pretty sure, the problem exists also for v5.4. Chaseplane will not be updated and it's just no longer compatible with Windows at current state. Since other programs still work, that suggest it was kind of unproper programming. Maybe a way to make it better at that time but not built for the future.

We learned legacy means abandonware and this parallel company will not fix it. That's the time we live in. It's all about profit and no love for flightsimming.

EzDoc seems to be at least a working alternative or back to default views. These are as bad as they always were.

 

@Patco Lch Thank you for the post! Does EzDok allow to save camera presets like Chaseplane does? 

And maybe some could explain to me how the default camery system in P3D can be utilized best, in case of a second alternative (along to EzDok)? Can preset views also be saved, maybe? 

I read that every second tuesday of the month Microsoft is publishing the biggest updates, so maybe trying to update Windows on the upcoming Tuesday or Wednesday might give a chance to fix the problem.

Btw: Does anyone know how the chances for success are when requesting a refund for MSFS? For PMDG the chances are zero, of course, but maybe MSFS will give me my money back.

It certainly does. It comes with presets for each aircraft or you can make your own. I believe flight1 has a refund policy if you’re not satisfied.

If I’m correct in thinking these two problematic updates relate to security it should still be possible for users to remove them permanently. I’m happy to take the tiny, no, minuscule risk it will cause me issues.

My flight sim computer is used purely for simming. No email, limited web browsing to trusted sites only and web access to weather services. Plus licence checks for certain aircraft.

If I choose to refuse them Microsoft should respect that decision. Let’s see what transpires when I turn updates back on on 1 June.
