Hence the 738 will be the one. Not many operators use the 736. Might be most popular on Xbox platform for people who don’t want to do realism.

The 700 outsold the 800 on the MP.

And the LVFR Airbus was just below them.

So I guess I should drop everything and get the LVFR, along with the Captain Sim (also a Platinum sales attainer!)

(These were 2023 annual sales, so many of the "winners" make sense)

I agree that PMDG do build pretty decent aircraft.   However, they have a greedy business model that is not really value for money. This 777 is a fine example.   Anyway I will have

These conversations get so bizarre.  Guys, PMDG makes good products.  Considering it is a sub-$100 digital rendition of an extremely complex aircraft, they make INCREDIBLE products.  It is mind b

Whatever others think, I personally feel that the PMDG 737 is a superb aircraft. There is a reason why I have been flying it almost exclusively since 2014.

Hit the nail right on the head.

The youtubers that also do this for real are generally the ones who really don't sweat the small stuff.

The only time I've seen them get "emotional" is when an addon they're flying is performing above their expectations.

And you can learn a LOT about which add-ons are low quality just by watching the add-ons they DON'T ever review 😉

And, FWIW, totally agree with the rest of your post. Great perspective. 👍

Devils advocate you can learn from one youtuber who is just bias for PMDG or you can learn from one who changes what he flies most days and gives thoughts on product everytime they have an update. Generally positive more than negative.

Yep. They're not all saints 😁

They don't. It's just the standard discount that's been in place every day for the last 2+ years.

That's not really a sale. They had a sale on their birthday something like 25%. But this peanuts has been there since almost release day.

Well, the sign says sale so. But if it's been like that since just about day one, it more than likely means they set the price point too high, made an adjustment and is calling it a sale.

I use the zibo mod (also years in development) that is "freeware" and that airliner it is better than prosim and pmdg!

Oh my no.  Very good for freeware, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of nuance and small details missing in the Zibo.  Entire pages of the FMC missing, their HGS is still a mess etc.  Certainly a great model, and obviously it'll be a simmer's go-to if they prefer Xplane, but let's not muddy the waters here.

Do you know what the difference is between flying a -600 and a -800?

I suspect the main complaining may well come from, let's say, the more aspirational simmers. Those who would like to think of themselves as gaining "real" expertise via the sim. But any amount of simulation practice (at least on a desktop setup, presumably not so on an actual simulator) is really going to be no different to reading a book while sitting in front of a series of pictures of your chosen cockpit.

Good observation, and in fact what I've seen over the years.  I sim several aircraft I've got a lot of actual time in; relevant to this thread is the fact that I've got around 10,000 hours in 737s.  And I've seen so many instances of non-pilot simmers point out small discrepancies in sim platforms that I never even noticed.  I figure it's down to us experiencing this activity in fundamentally different ways.  But so often when I go check one of those discrepancies for myself, my reaction is "well sure enough, that's a little different.  But completely meaningless."  Which explains why I never noticed.

But it is a fun phenomenon; I've come to enjoy seeing what folks can come up with 😁.

What's that got to do with what I'm saying. Some of the things I can think of. More capacity, larger wings, more range and performance, SSW. Some system differences. My old airline when I was around only got one 800 before going bust.

I didn't ask what the differences were between a -600 and a -800.  I asked if you know what the differences are between FLYING a -600 and -800.

Hi,

I've flown PMDG, Prosim as well as the Zibo mod. I run real Boeing yokes and rudder pedals in a Boeing dual trainer. I've spent numerous hours in multi-million dollar sims and both prosim and pmdg cannot give me the same feel response that I can get from the mod. Not the fault of these third party companies they must work within the limitations of the base platform.

As for items missing from the CDU/FMC, I can find many from PMDG as well!
