Thats pretty much all it is .. The value proposition. Everyone is presented with it and can decide if it works for them ... or not. The difference is that when the proposition is presented by PMDG it seems like everyone wants to make their decision AND their opinions about the proposition known repeatedly at almost every opportunity.. even when the topic is about something completely different. Mind you i have personally have made a few thumbs down (will not buy) responses to pricing for a few devs and made my opinion known ONCE ... keep the topic on why the price doesn't work for me for my needs vs what is offered and go on my merry way. Some keep moaning every time the mere hint of PMDG comes up in the forums as if RSR personally went and ripped open a scab on their body. We all know this is a FOR PROFIT business entity and they are going to act accordingly. We also know that no product is perfect. I personally don't understand it but the more someone complains about pricing repeatedly and then tries to add more complaints on top of it is the more i just tune them out. Gotta be some other issue bothering that person and no one is going to move them to evaluate the other perspectives of the discussion anyway because they are going to find something else to complain about. Just buy the thing if you want it and you can afford it or don't. It should be that simple. I was just answering some of your questions is all, no ill intent 🙂

Years of development and investments to bring the highest level of realism is what PMDG does. Then people can’t expect that they would charge $ 40-50 for it. I use the zibo mod (also years in development) that is "freeware" and that airliner it is better than prosim and pmdg! But it does have a more advanced base platform to work with, so that may also be an unfair example. If enough customers determine the price is too high, and sales take a big hit, you telling me PMDG would rather shelve the airliner instead of having a sale? I think not. Matter of fact, they have a few sales going on right now. If these items were selling like hot cakes, there would be no sale. They are big boys. Nothing seems to bug them (arrogance) on internet forums. So why should you care? Uninformed people have been using PMDG products for over twenty years now. They know what is going on. Wow. If you think I'm white knighting for PMDG, you've got another think coming...

PMDG do actual sales once or twice a year. E.g., IIRC, they had a pretty good 737 discount on the MP during last Christmas.

I would suspect that if you did this for real you might well be more tolerant of such discrepancies... Hit the nail right on the head. The youtubers that also do this for real are generally the ones who really don't sweat the small stuff. The only time I've seen them get "emotional" is when an addon they're flying is performing above their expectations. And you can learn a LOT about which add-ons are low quality just by watching the add-ons they DON'T ever review 😉 And, FWIW, totally agree with the rest of your post. Great perspective. 👍 Edited May 8, 20251 yr by UrgentSiesta
