However, my 15 minute re-install time for 2024 ...

15 min? That's pretty good. It took me about an hour and it used up only about 10GIG of SSD space. I still uninstalled it. It's just not as good as my trusty FS2020. For those that decided to move on to 2024, I don't begrudge them. May they enjoy their preferred sim.

I'm gratified you are using the sim that you prefer, but why does that have to end with a silly comment towards 2024?  I can agree with some of your points regarding 2024 because we are not even at th

I don't understand people who think you can't have multiple simulators installed at the same time. STORAGE IS CHEAP! I still have installed XP12, P3Dv5.5, MSFS2020 and 2024.

Not me,  still a huge MSFS2020 fan and this would go at least until the end of this year so possible at this time the most bad and anoying bugs are blocked out of MSFS2024 !! cheers 😉

I'm on Starlink internet, so not as fast as many peoples fibre, but I get a solid 250-300Mbps - re-installing 2024 is not a problem, especially while beta testing.

That's awesome! I forgot to add the few hours that it took me to set up my controllers. Hopefully, those settings will stick when I try it again after SU3 is released.

I agree, from what I am reading on various forums, 2024 still has a way to go.

Most people will post negative comments when something is not right for them, but many others don't see their issues.  SU2 beta is now very good - why not install 2024 and see for yourself on your system with your mods - you may not have the issues you are reading about.  You can at least start the transition to 2024, with the mods you use that are now compatible?

There's no reason to. I mostly fly the iFLYMax 8 and PMDG 737. I have no interest in flying anything else, and to me, 2020 looks great, as it has since I got it over 3,000 hours ago.

Same here, I still can't figure out how people can rave about how great XP looks, to me it looks like P3D with some lipstick.

I would stick to 2020 too if I only flew two aircraft that were not available for 2024.  When they do become available, will you be switching to 2024 to gain the upgraded features?

Thanks! In fact, the similarity between the two is exactly why I decided to uninstall 2020. If they were that different, I might have kept both as disk space isn’t an issue for me.

Since I already use multiple simulators, removing one helps me spend more time actually flying and less time managing updates.

I forgot to mention it earlier, but for me, the thin client approach in 2024 is also a big plus. It significantly reduces loading and update times, which adds to the overall convenience.

Yes. And a side benefit of the new architecture is very much a SaaS thing: there are undoubtedly a lot of updates happening only on the server-side that we never even hear about, but that move the sim forward nonetheless.

The good thing about 2020 and 2024 is you can keep one addon folder for both sims then just use addon linker to associate each addon with one or both sims.

In fact, the Orbx Direct installer even offered to do exactly that for me on a couple sceneries I was installing yesterday. A pleasant surprise!

Do you know if you can turn that off BTW?  Since I manage the process with addon linker I find the prompt annoying now.  But yes good for those who don't use addon linker.

Well, yeah, in the ground textures & mesh department XP is relatively dated. I'm self-limited to the Orbx regional areas, especially for regions I know well.

But XP does have its strong points and is very satisfying to fly, particularly for GA aircraft.

But again, this is coming from a guy who from time to time still cranks up P3D with full-stack Orbx just so I can fly two add-ons there!

Meanwhile, back in Lancaster, Pa.

IDK - I had quite a stack of downloads queued up so I just accepted and moved on.

Agree with using Addon Linker - extremely useful. Similar to xToolbox/xOrganizer in XP.
