How to bind 'Enter Aircraft' in MSFS 2024?

Featured Replies

If I use 2020 transversal keybindings the only way to enter the aircraft is to switch to 2024 transversal, press shift C, and then go back to 2020 preset.

When I use my mouse to click Enter Aircraft nothing happens.  But Toggle EFB will work.

When I try to bind Enter Aircraft there is no keybind for that function.

Anyone experienced this?

Oh, of note that this is for 2020 aircraft in 2024... so non native aircraft.

It's called "Take control of character". I also use 2020 transversal and set the O key to "take control of character" and the same key to "Quick preflight", so when I press O it auto removes chocks and such and I enter the aircraft.

Hope this helps.

I’ve been struggling with this too.  Another example of control UI that makes zero sense, especially when the command is specifically called “enter aircraft” while in the sim.  Hitting the button with your mouse, which highlights yet does absolutely nothing, is quite mind boggling as well.

Thanks for this.  One question.  Is that a capital O, and if so, do you have to Shift - O, or set Caps Lock?

Hi, I use just the O key, no shift or caps lock.

Thanks!  Yeah the amount of illogical things in 2024 sometimes makes me go hmmmm

I think a lot of it is language differences honestly.  And lack of aeronautical knowledge on the dev side.

Ok, I might be a little dense, but you're saying it's the small o, not the capital O.

Hmm, there is only one O on my keyboard, lol. That is what I assigned in the bindings to take control of character (with no caps lock or shift, so yes, small o), but you can choose whatever you want.

I think the Quick Preflight binding is currently only available in the FS2024 SU2 beta.

I have a joystick doing nothing, so I keep it way off the right velcroed on desk. It has 2 hats on top.

On one hat I bound: move forward, move right, move backward, and move left.

The other hat I bound: look up, look right, look down, look left.

With these two hats I can walk, run in any direction in 1st person (no character image) or or in 3rd person (character walks, runs, or turns). That's how its done on those youtube videos showing the character walking smoothly around here and there. They aren't using a keyboard. They are using hats or using an Xbox controller. Keyboard is clumsy.

For the the 2nd Look hat, you have to push the center mouse wheel to cycle between looking around with the mouse or with the hat. Both can't be turned on at the same time.(this is built into msfs automatically, when you push the mouse center wheel then it cycles On or Off the look around function in outside or cockpit view.

This thread is about getting in and out of the aircraft, not walking around. To walk around I use an Xbox controller.

It's not beta anymore 🙂  Update your sim, it's released, and it's wonderful!

I'm new to 2024 and can't figure out how to remove things like engine covers or pitot tube covers. Searching YouTube for basic tutorials for this should not be this difficult.
