The downgrade to scenery is depressing but... Not game ending. The stability though is now so bad 2 flights out of 4 have locked windows 11 completely. The first required task manager to force log off to exit the crashed sim. The 2nd and final straw required a power button reset of my recently rebuilt and clean machine. I don't allow apps to run that compromise my work pc with hard resets PERIOD. So I'm (temporarily?) back to an older, more stable, more configurable, better looking (in addon scenery areas only) simulator for the foreseeable future. It's great to have backup choices, sad that you have to use them. Have a look in the Windows event log. See anything post it up here. SU 16 has been one of the best SU releases there has been. August 15, 2025Aug 15 Can someone please tell me exactly whether the quality of the ground textures and landscape (sharpness, colors, visibility far) in the FS2020 sim after SU16 is affected by whether I start the sim "as is" or with MSFS2020 Map Enhancement: Bing latest version or Google map or ArcGIS I haven't figured it out myself.
August 15, 2025Aug 15 Author As is looks great from what I can infer. Still has the odd coloring in a lot of places but there is also a lot more "color" in the 2020 palette opposed to everything having the same green tinge to it... Clarity is great, I can literally see the rows of headstones from 3-4000 ft in the cemetery next to the Parkway as I depart Newark. Exactly what you see in real life. All of the details like the lines in the fields that were in 2024 are now in 2020. Can't speak to the Map Enhancement but SU16 was certainly a core base texture enhancement for MSFS. August 20, 2025Aug 20 So I did some testing Everytime i uninstall nvidia driver with ddu. And then i install latest Sim starts up fine. I then close the sim and restart it it, gets to about 90% the. CTD. Only happened after su16 and i have updated all content etc and tried with empty community folder. No nvidia app installed. Any suggestions? Thanks Mike
August 21, 2025Aug 21 You're not trying to use DX11, are you? It's broken since the last 2 driver releases. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
August 21, 2025Aug 21 It's broken full stop. I have used the 566.36 drivers since the start of the year, and the PC reboot problem when loading MSFS 2020 in DX11 mode only started a week ago (after some Windows 10 updates.....). Any suggestions? Thanks Mike I had a similar issue - it turned out that I had an issue with the RAM. The memory had been overclocked and after it was rest to be the normal timing, it was fine. I would suggest that you run the OCCT RAM + CPU test and see if there are any hardware problems. https://www.ocbase.com/ Best regards, Peter
