Does the Fenix A320 work properly in 2024?

Featured Replies

Slowly moving across to 2024 now and I never used the Fenix much as I primarily flew pmdg's 737 but not an option on 24 yet so I'm happy to fly the Fenix but I seem to have nothing but weird behaviour going on, first I thought maybe I did something wrong but so far every flight has had issues even though I paid close attention to make sure I got nothing wrong during its setup.

I'm flying at cruise now and suddenly for no apparent reason whatsoever the AP disconnects with a red AUTO FLT AP OFF message.  Starts to oscillate in VS mode, can still get the open climb going but no longer managed.  Nav also no longer works, even HDG mode no longer works, the plan just turns around in circles endlessly not following any type of navigation even though the AP is now enabled again.  I'm getting this constant repeating dial tone sound as well.

Are these bugs in 2024 or am I still doing something wrong or misunderstanding something, it's certainly possible but I can't figure out what as this just happens without me even at the controls.

Fenix works great in 24 and I saw someone mention the Max8 from Ifly.  Yep, that works great too. Jase

None of those issues here in 2024 that you are having, I would maybe have a look over your controls.

Just as suggested above, carefully check there aren't any "hidden" control assignements causing inputs to happen when you don't think you caused it?

Control assignements in FS 2024 need to be carefully understood and you should create specific assignements for each of your controllers dedicated to the Fenix, at least that's what I decided to do with all of my "complex" addons in FS 2024.

Also if you're in the beta channel beware that sometimes fligjhting versions brake some functionality and / or force you to revisit your assignements.

Increasing the neutral point of the sidestick for pitch and roll inputs could also help avoiding AP disconnect events.

I haven't tested the Fenix since SU3 1.5.12.0 has been released but will try to tonight and see if I find anything weird going on.

Does anyone find the ground steering of the Fenix quite strange. It needs a lot of power to get moving plus seems very unstable directionally when at speed on a runway.
I’ve checked my brake assignments etc

No sir- moves off without throttle unless at very high weight in the A331… but I fly IAEs.

Stable and precise on TO roll. I would really go through your MSFS2024 controls- the interface is pure rubbish and likely to have conflicts.

The IAEs have some pep to them for sure. The CFMs require some throttle to get going.

I was using CFM. I needed a fair bit of thrust to get moving and when I idle the power, the speed slowly drops. Is that considered normal?

I'll double check in 2020, but yeah. The IAEs will move the plane at idle like the Neos.

Also, the Fenix hasn't been update for 2024 in a while, so it's possible an SU that affected ground handling could be at play. They are working on a massive update that will make the plane fully 2024 native.

Isn’t the Fenix suppose to have a big update soon?

Anyone at all noticed the steering issues on the takeoff/landing roll. When it starts to speed up a bit its very slow to respond to steering inputs and wants to swerve off the runway significantly

CFM out of KBOS yesterday never would allow me to engage the autopilot, and that is the first time this has happened since I've been using 320 in 2024.  I assumed it might be a one-off, rebooted the PC, and same same.  Today am doing LIRF>EDDF and no issues.  Overall it's worked perfectly in 2024 for save this odd behavior out of KBOS.  I did research this and suggestion was needed more dead zone in my yoke axes but then again, never needed it before.  So I added more and no difference on that second try at KBOS.

To the OP:  I-Fly's 737 MAX 8 works quite well in 2024 as well.

I flew out of KBOS in the CFM a320 in 2024 with no issues last night.

I had no problems flying the A320 in 2024/SU2. Those control bindings need to be set correctly, of course, and you do need to be sure that you don't have unwanted bindings set. If I do it over again, I'm going to clear the default bindings completely before programming my controllers. It will take a bit of time during set up, but will save a lot more in annoying debugging down the road.
