I pointed you to $900 7900XTX which is cheaper than a 4080 S and performs about the same in MSFS 2024 and no stutters from VRAM exhaustion. You will not run into VRAM issues with the 7900XTX and you can probably sell your 4080 S for good money (plenty of buyers that only buy nVidia). Thanks . Food for thought if my 4080S sells for good money. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,

July 5, 2025Jul 5 I've just come back from a one-month break due to frequent CTDs (crash to desktop). I'm not sure whether the issue was caused by my clean install or the NVIDIA drivers. Since returning, I’ve completed 15 flights without a single CTD—quite a contrast to the constant crashes I was experiencing after just 10–15 minutes of flight time before the break. VRAM usage now hovers around 10 GB out of 12 GB when flying the 777, A321, A321NX, and A350 (with the Low Texture Pack), using High texture settings instead of Ultra. My setup: CPU: 9800X3D RAM: 64 GB GPU: RTX 5070 Resolution: 5120×1440 (roughly equivalent to 4K pixel count on a standard aspect ratio screen) As for stuttering, it seems to be related to the PSO (Pipeline State Object) compilation in DirectX 12—similar to what happens with Vulkan. I'm wondering whether shaders are being compiled in real time during gameplay or if they’re precompiled during the loading phase.

Right now, in the IF B37 MAX 8, on final into EHAM, with Self Loading Cargo, BATC, LiveATC all running, VRAM total in use is 11.6Gb. All Ultra. But I'm using a 3440x display. No not 4K. I've not seen the resource window appear since doing that. It's a bummer cause I like PG but it's not doable with all the addons I run. As someone who has an RTX 3080 10GB, thank you for this! Anytime I used the Fenix it would be in the single digits. Just turned off PG and was getting a smooth/no stuttering 30 fps at JFK in the Fenix. Will have to do more testing but THANK YOU!

It helps a bunch at the big addon airports and helps the sim all round so I leave it on. Also VR users report it helps them. dd Dynamic settings does help a lot BUT it's totally apparent where it draws the trees and objects...it's so ugly - it moves the lod radius very close to the user's aircraft. I ran Dynamic for a while and was like wow is so smooth then I realized the draw distance was extremely short ranged. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Like others said it's not ideal, as PG is the selling point of 2020 and 2024. But I've noticed especially in the more modern/recent PG areas turning it off is a big help to vram. I don't fly into busy cities that often so I usually don't see PG anyway - so now I barely miss it. It is kinda fun if you're low and slow though, also if you know the area it's cool in PG mode. But usually if I'm low and low I can afford PG on. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 5, 2025Jul 5 Most cities that I have seen look perfectly fine in autogen mode. I really do not need PG. It is nice to have a handful of landmark packs like ORBx VFR London Landmarks, and the Prealsoft packs (Amsterdam/Athens/Dublin), but others look OK without them. I have some SamScene city packs and as long you have nicely modeled cities you recognize it's really not bad at all. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 27, 2025Oct 27 i am confused about vram some aircraft like the a350 perform good one time and then next session worse. Then i see the vram is 1-2gb higher then another session. not sure why this happens. It has something to do with going in and out of the menu or something.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 Ive read that the cause of the VRAM issue is the Intel 13th-14th gen chips, likely why Aboso is having a difficult time with them as they do not have access to the microcode of the chips i9-14900K, 64G DDR5, 24G VRAM RTX4090 Velocity One Yoke and Quadrant LG rudder pedals Bluetooth earbuds
