Seeing you quoted me, where does it say I’m HAPPY with it? I’m clearly pointing out issues in the scenery that I hope get fixed. I’ve already purchased the scenery before all of the issues were know as hundreds of other users did.

This is why I no longer purchase on day 1, or even day 2 or 3, as a rule. The only exception I have in the scenery world is Flightbeam and for aircraft perhaps Fenix. Otherwise I just no longer trust the product is as presented. And it seems this Mateo/Orbx release of KATL further supports my approach. This one is such an important airport so hopefully the work is done to correct the issues, but it seems from the 19 pages of discussion here that there is a great deal of work to do.

One thing they can do is just release it on marketplace. I hate marketplace but getting sceneries from there isn’t the WORST in the world. They’ll have their precious encryption without the need to lo

They just lost me forever. Orbx can now go pound sand. I would have paid $100 for this but now they’ve lost me as a customer.

maybe because of ORBX pressure?

I think you are correct. I'm seeing the same answer on other media sites with the same conclusion. I'm guessing they didn't want to announce another delay and decided to release as-is.

I can't remember another scenery release that has these many problems on release.

Atlanta is my home airport when I was growing up and I have used the devs previous scenery, so I was excited to finally have an updated version of KATL in MSFS2024. Should I have waited? Maybe so but it's my home airport and I was unhappy with the Asobo/ImagineSim versions being outdated. I learned my lesson now when it comes to Orbx published sceneries. I will put them in the Aerosoft category of "wait and see" when it comes to any Orbx backed development.

Given the continued release of fixes on nearly a daily basis, I do have to ask why, given the very extended development period, none of these issues were noted and addressed during the very long beta?

Im not. I could give you a long list of payware items over the last 10 years that have been released half finished. Its all about quick cash and pressure from publishers or big devs

Again as a community we never seem to learn.

Yea, completely understand and if this was a new Toronto (YYZ) scenery I probably would have done the same thing; but in general now I just refuse to pick up anything too quickly because there have been too many times I have been unhappy with the purchase. I am disappointed to say that, but it is the stance I have ended up taking.

Also, I am not sure this is simply pressure from a publisher. Maybe, we have no way to know from the outside what the arrangements between Mateo and Orbx are. But the issues with the scenery, one that has been under development since prior to February 2025, are notable and important ones and from what I have read part of the issue lies in development choices -- i.e. 100,000 draw calls for an airport! That is not ORBX demanding a release date and rushing a few aspects of the scenery, it reflects design/development approach and choice, ones that fail to consider proper optimization. The poor terrain textures in areas of the airport are development choices. The fact that two patches have been released in less than a week that reportedly have improved performance points not to release pressure but development processes.

It is a big project so I am also not surprised there are teething issues and hopefully additional work will improve the overall quality of the package and I hope to be able to purchase it at some point in the future.

Yes I do. I have a rather large collection. I don't have issues with there sceneries because my system can handle them. As far as iniBuilds, I don't own one that has caused as much issues as Atlanta. With ini it's usually a performance issue. Now there aircraft are a different story, wait and see approach.

The developer has made other scenery that are outstanding so we purchased based off of past experience with his products.

This is usually a safe bet! 👍

KATL has raised more light & heat than any airport release I can remember…

The good news is we’re seeing the devs make changes and acknowledge problems.

Hopefully, Matteo doesn’t work on the same time frames as DCS devs 😉

Seems there were no Beta testers for this one…?

Hard to believe anyone these days would ship software of any sort without review…

Also, running 150 TLOD on the ground in the complex sceneries is guaranteed performance issue even without AI.

I run TLOD @ 250 everywhere on my PC, and I do not have any performance issues when on the ground.

When I look at Orbx. They still post 1.0.1? How did you get 1.0.2?

The more and more I fly in and out of this airport, the less I’m enjoying it. I said earlier the stutters have improved, but still not enough to my personal satisfaction. The ground is absolutely abysmal when taxiing around and while I understand Matteo’s opinion that Asobo is to blame for this, it doesn’t change the fact that for me as the customer, it’s completely annoying. Visually, the airport looks fine to me, but I’m just having less enjoyment each time I fly in and maybe it’s because I’m seeing more and more of these details that are bugging me. Frustrating to see such a hyped project turn into such a disappointment.

(FYI - Careful on the Orbx discord. They have a few PR campaign managers/pseudo mods running around that will fight you on anything negative that is said)
