July 18, 2025Jul 18 Author I tried an IFR flight (by accident - more on that below) and it was a throwback to 2020... Climb and maintain 4900 feet 30 seconds later: Descend to 3200 feet 10 seconds later: Climb and maintain 4400 feet Note I accidentally had visual aids enabled to show where I should be in the sky, and these instructions didn't even match the visual aids!!! How can the part of the sim that knows where I should fly, not be connected with the part of the sim giving me instructions to fly it?!?! Don't ever change Asobo! It's just mind-boggling to me that this still is still not fixed 5 years later in a 2nd gen of this sim!!! EDIT: I need to ask about IFR vs VFR... I chose a departure and arrival airport and it somehow defaulted to IFR. I couldn't see any way to check if it was VFR or IFR. Where is that option? Edited July 18, 2025Jul 18 by Virtual-Chris

Although as long as you can export then you can load any route into Simbrief, but you could end up with issues because the Navdata sets won't match up. Worst case with that, you find it annoying and feel the need to get a Navigraph (data) subscription. I used to do all my route planning in LNM and then export to Simbrief, now 95% of the time I'll take one of the Simbrief routes.. G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

I shared your position (I'm in love with the US Flight Following) but recently I'm discouraged with the MSFS2024 user interface (https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/atc-window-is-more-frustrating/665499/17😞 : buggy when resized, hardly support second monitor, closest airfield list has never been testing by a human, randomly loose keyboard shortcut so convenient to avoid having the window opened to acknowledge, dead-end in multiple choice (zero choices)... And although all WT's effort, interacting with ATC with a keyboard via a multiple choice lists, looks like 2000's technology compared to SayIntentions and BeyondATC. Where is AI (magic word in 2025) in the MSFS furthermore it's a Microsoft Product. We benefit from Azure all backend infra but the AI/Copilot blabla is non-existent in MSFS. It looks like MSFS's ATC is just a "skeleton" of ATC, as it is with P3D and FSX, same old tech. It almost looks like MS/Asobo have been leaving that part (AI ATC) to third parties so far...which is kind of odd as MS touts its Azure product etc. etc. If I were designing a sim, I would leave career-mode-type apps to 3rd parties and INSTEAD I would devote that development time to AI-based ATC. July 18, 2025Jul 18 If you fly IFR I recommend BATC 100%. It works fine for me 95% of the time. Edited July 18, 2025Jul 18 by Tuskin38

It's a shame that it doesn't yet support VFR and that it doesn't work with the in-sim planner, but it does sound like the best option. Thankfully I can use it on my iPad thank's to Guenseli's AAO mod. Thanks to all that chimed in.
July 20, 2025Jul 20 I really like it. Mostly for improved atc and traffic injection. vfr support would be nice. i guess i kind of pretend im doing a flight following when using ga planes. Ohhhh i have a question! does batc have ga planes as traffic? i haven't seen any. It seems they’ve been saying it’s on their roadmap for a year.
