Dynamic Settings y / n?

Featured Replies

I'm finding that I like this setting.  Fixes things like stutters at big airports and especially the blurry landing textures.

I only enable when needed.

  • No turn it off and use MSFS AutoFps instead:   https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS_AutoFPS

  • It makes fps smooth but the Lod radius is vastly reduced making trees and distant objects pop in and it's very noticable.

  • I my case it is pre-FG. *** I have nothing but positive experience with Dynamic settings and use it instead of AutoFPS now. The key is to set the FPS value correctly, it should not be a targ

I use it on 2024

Textures tend to get a little blurry but at least the frame and fluidity is very stable.

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

I have it disabled, fps fixed at 30, LODs at 50... TAA, no VSync.

I experience most of the time a smooth ride, although aircraft like the 350 can under some circumstances create stutters....

Have to give "Dynamic settings" a try.

No scenery popping noticed here with TLOD=150 and OLOD=100.

I've been using autoFPS since it came out, but recently switched to dynamic settings in sim and found it to be the smoothest experience I have ever had with msfs2024.  Using native nvidia 2x frame gen, target rate of 50 with TLOD of 250 and OLED of 200 with most graphics settings on high with a couple at ultra.

Both CPU and GPU running at around 50°C most of the time on SU2 even at the most demanding of addon airports.

Most of the time, CPU and GPU usage are only running at around 30% with RAM usage and VRAM usage at around 60%.

Holding a steady 60 FPS 99% of the time with DLSS Quality Preset K.

Overall, everything looks very cool, smooth and well balanced, though it took the addition of an RTX5080 to get there.

Hello. By setting LOD at 50, do you mean in all phases of a flight or do you use AutoFPS. Thanks

All phases. I do not use AutoFPS, nor any other application of the kind. The only exception is when I use "Lossless", but lately I don't even need Lossless because FS 2024 runs very well & smooth...

Dynamic Settings probably won't make your textures better. It makes your textures worse, if the target FPS you set is too high.  Without Dynamic Settings, the engine will try to render as high as level of graphics as it can, which can lead to stutters if you set the target FPS too high, but at least the ground and mountain textures will be better.

And also the ground and mountain textures get worse.

I think Dynamic Settings simply degrades the graphics of MSFS 2024, including reducing the LOD radius, using lower quality textures, etc, just to keep whatever target FPS you have set.

Seems to me it is for people who want to maintain 60fps at all costs, but have a 1080 monitor and / or poor eyesight.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

The target frame rate for the Dynamic setting should be set, so I read, at the minimum frame rate that your sim can achieve. I believe the intent is not to let the sim sink below this and when it does, it trades off visual quality (TLOD) to maintain that minimum. I can achieve 65+ FPS on average but in certain circumstances (heavy airport scenery, AI traffic etc) I can see the sim hit a low spike of 50FPS hence I have set my target frame rate at 50. Seems to work quite well so far. Still experimenting.

I've used AutoFPS but it's been hit or miss and more miss lately in 2024.

That is why I switched to Dynamic mode.

I agree the graphics can take a hit but I prefer to have a stable and fluidity Sim.

AutFPS is certainly worth a try to see if it works for you.

Does dynamic settings use the pre or post FG FPS as reference when using native FG?

I tested it a while ago and seemed to be pre-FG but never seen anything documented.
