REX Atmos Core : released

REX Atmos is a visual graphic filter that acts at MSFS level (vs nvidia filter). It doesn't manage weather nor static, nor dynamic. Your MSFS and your weather depiction still rely on the embedded MSFS weather engine or an external generator like the other payware REX tool (Active Sky).

I don't really understand this program.

I already have weather changing during flight in msfs2024. How is this any different.

Atmos is no weather engine.

It enhances the way your atmosphere / clouds / environment looks. And its effects work naturally in the sim.

Any VR users reckon this is a worthy product? I'm on the fence as I use OpenXR Toolkit so I already have post processing options to tweak (colours, saturation, contrast etc).

Currently a bit worried that adding another layer (app) on top of 2024 with it's performance issues won't help matters, but that's another story!

Like with MSFS2020 this is a game changer for me and my Quest3 and for only 6 euro's in my case.

I only have to start it up and choose the AB atmos preset and the world becomes more realistic, plausible. Mountains on the horizon do not look like blurry hills but get a haze effect and sharper edges due to this.

Note: I start the sim first and then atmos. When restarting the sim with atmos sill active it seems to screw up the interface. world globe dissappears etc. So when starting up the sim first and then atmos all is OK.  At least, that is what happens in my case.

Cool thanks, as it's cheap I might give it a go one day.

For me it has transformed 2024 Marc.  I had to spend half an hour finding out how to get the best out of it, but now I have set up and auto-loading it has transformed the look of the sim to me - definitely looks a lot more realistic, if not totally realistic.  I am happy with it anyway.  I only paid about £6 though as it was a half price upgrade.

@avhpilot This is exactly the same for me.  In fact, I only start Atmos after I press ready to fly, and it loads in as I am setting the plane up - I see the sky change after about 6 seconds.  For me, if I do it any other way, Atmos can fail to detect MSFS.  Like you say, when quitting MSFS and starting again, best to do this with Atmos also and start from scratch; it takes just a few extra seconds.

Would you mind sharing your settings? I have been fiddling around the last hours but havent really found the sweet spot yet. Any inspiration appreciated.

Have a good one!

The AB presets seem to work for many, have you tried them yet?

Yes and they come pretty close to what i'd like. A bit too much bloom for my taste. I'll experiment some more after work.

Yes, as Bob says, all three AB ones are a good place to start.  Then I tweaked something to get a little bit more dark blue at higher altitudes.  I am at work until late tonight, but the information on how to do that is on here somewhere.

Ok

1. I use re-shade and really like my colors. Do I get rid of that and can I get the same type of results with this or do I keep reshade

2. Does this work better with Active sky or 2024 weather.

3. This is just me, but the images I have seen seem like pretty subtle changes or will I be blown away

It's pretty good given what I paid for it. My only concern is that I will be endlessly tweaking rather than flying so I hope I settle on one or two favourites early on.

1 You can use your own Reshade preset in combination with the Atmos Core Presets. The last vid I posted shows both working together.

2 It works with every weather engine

3 Presets with subtle changes can be used 24/7, while Presets with more visible changes mostly are made for specific situations ( place , date , time )

I wish it made it clear what preset you were actually using, unless I am missing something?

On the REX Atmos Core site it is stated that dynamic settings will be introduced.

Eg changes depending on altitude

Like PTA did for P3D.
