REX Atmos Core : released

Featured Replies

I'm waiting for Just Flight to release it.
Unless I skip the discount and buy it full price elsewhere... Maybe that's what I'll do, I'm too impatient to try the 2024 version. 😇

Is this something you just buy and it will work well with Active Sky out of the box, or would I need to fiddle with settings before each flight?

I currently only ever use live weather from AS.

Thanks

It says on the webiste that it works with AS. My understanding, and I use it in 2020, is that it changes the look of the weather, not any of the textures. I only use it for one thing and that's to lighten the awful looking 'doomsday' looking clouds that often appear in anything other than fluffy cumulus clouds.

Waiting @filou Presets FS2024 :)

Good Evening.

"Allows users to get rid of the sepia filter"

Oh how I WISH this was available for MSFS 2020!  Unfortunately 2024 performs far worse on my machine, but I'd pay good money to rid myself of the sepia nightmare.

Has anyone found good presets or made good presets that work at all times of day?  I was about to buy this, did not get it for 2020, but saw Easyjet Simpilot had a review of the pre-release version for 2024 and compared it to the 2020 version and it looks like it's not nearly as effective.  When he got it looking "good" in daytime it looked horrible at sunrise/sunset vs apparently in 2020 the same preset would just work "24/7" (my impression).

He's probably too busy enjoying the sim that actually works.....🤣

Any VR users reckon this is a worthy product? I'm on the fence as I use OpenXR Toolkit so I already have post processing options to tweak (colours, saturation, contrast etc).

Currently a bit worried that adding another layer (app) on top of 2024 with it's performance issues won't help matters, but that's another story!

Looks like you have to play around with 300 different sliders to get the effect you want. Pass. This is the first REX product I won't be buying.

I'm using ReShade. Works for me.

so you brought atmos for 2020 a year ago but not interested in this product . it has many of the same sliders.

Yes and I couldn't find any manual that would explain these sliders !

At least they could have added tips for each parameter.

We have no default set of preset provided. only the ones from the community... but you don't clearly know what they do.

I see no automatic load and applying presets ?

That seems more a product for geeks 🙂

Bought it but bad choice for me...

Just tested it in VR and liked the results. The ugly clouds are not changed, but the scattering of light around them helps quite a bit.

I was taken aback at first, but then I started playing with the sliders and started having fun with it. Changes have an immediate effect on my system, so you can explore the results in real time.

Atmos Core is not just a shader, it also enables you to manipulate the density of dust particles or mist in the air, and change how they scatter light. That won't do anything if you fly with a clear skies preset, but it makes a huge difference once there is some level of mist/dust in the air.

I was skeptical before I bought it, I never used a shader before. But this is much more than changing ambient colors and I am happy I got it.

Yes..
I didn't want to wait and got it from SimMarket.
Love it. Needs a bit of practice (and some luck too..) though, but same as MSFS 2020, it adds a full new dimension to the sim.
REX rocks, as always ! 👍
