CA looks amazing at altitude, but at ground level it's a dump 😵‍💫

I fly in CA regularly and it looks great at low level.  I use the Map Enhancement tool with latest Bing Maps - colours and detail are very good.  Google maps have good detail but poor colours in many places.

I don't care if I can't find my house.

I fly almost exclusively GA in XP12, so seeing accurate ground features is very important to me. For example, the circuit diagrams and procedures for Popham Airfield (EGHP) highlight several noise-sensitive areas — including individual farm buildings, small villages, and even a petrol station. Unfortunately, the default XP12 scenery doesn’t display these key landmarks in an accurate placement.

SimHeaven adds a lot of missing buildings, but not all of them. To get every ground feature shown on the airfield plate, ortho imagery is essential. Many YouTube videos that demonstrate the circuit for each runway also reference landmarks such as the “triangular field” or specific farm buildings when turning base-these are often missing without ortho.

I understand that satellite imagery isn’t an option for the default scenery, but I do hope that future updates can include enough detail to make VFR circuit flying more realistic — ideally reaching or even surpassing the level of accuracy that SimHeaven has achieved, while remaining fully updateable.

Popham Airfield (EGHP)

I also tend to do circuits often in that area because of Orbx Truearth GB South.
Are you using the ORBX version of EGHP which was made for XP11?

The current state of XP12 scenery is very good.

I still want offline play so anything streaming is off the table for me.

Realistic improvements to me would be 3 fold:

  1. real anti-aliasing
  2. less improper angular rivers/roads/coastlines/terrain boarders/etc
  3. increased level of detail i.e. less popup or farther draw-in

I dont need the whole world i like the idea of smaller areas that i could purchase one time, no streaming with seasons and trees that match with the Ortho,,,

Next release to be 12.3.1

Yeah, maybe they could offer a good selection like the southern tip of Papua New Guinea, that cool area just east of Archangelsk and - to give people some choice, a large chunk of the Sahara desert.

But they have to be individual blades of grass that are affected by everything.  And the ants and grass have to both be driven by CFD.
