Delayed rendering when switching views since SU4

Featured Replies

With SU4 I am getting a split second but very noticeable transition when switching to external view and back into the cockpit. Never had this before. Mid to long distance scenery transitions from blurry to sharp and the cockpit feels like it is being quickly rebuilt rather than instantly now. It almost feels like it is switching from one sim to another.

Anybody else seeing this?

  • Changing drivers, fiddling with bios settings etc is not the answer here folks, it's a regression that needs to be fixed on Asobos side. You'll only go down a rabbit hole wasting your time with n

  • Because it's not always obvious, obviously--as shown in my post above I don't have it at all.  A poll might be interesting to see how widespread it is.

  • I wonder there is an easy fix from Asobo: instead of showing delayed rendering, Asobo could delay the transition by a fraction of second to allow the pre-rendering of the new scene, then switch over.

Yes, I experience that too... Unfortunately. Any idea of fixing that issue?

I'm kind of hoping it is a server issue or something which will sort itself out. I presumed it was related to clearing all my caches when SU4 launched for me last night as I have seen similar before after doing that, but I'm still getting it this morning which is a bit of a worry.

I knew this would happen but none of the other 'beta testers' seemed to be bothered by it.
I have been highlighting it in YouTube videos of people in the beta as well.

@St Mawgan now you know what I have been on about.  you have replied to my comments and even tried to help at the start of the beta when I mentioned it.
I thought they had fixed it once but it might have regressed again.  All was fine in SU3.
I have tried everything to try and fix it at my end and I have wasted hours.

God knows what they have done here, but it really spoils it for me.  Spoiler - downloading the aircraft doesn't cure it.

Agree! So frustrating, realy… Everthing else is fine, but this little issue is realy a step backwards

Rob are you talking about the momentary blurred gauges when moving from external to internal view? I only saw that sometimes on some gauges in some aircraft in SU3. This is a bit like that but much worse as it happens every time with both scenery and cockpit. I don't tend to switch views much when I'm in the air but now when I do it's not good. As I said, I'm hoping it is temporary. Changing any of my settings doesn't make any difference here.

I see it and did during beta but it's so very quick it's barely noticeable, literally in the blink of an eye that's with two different graphics cards as well in VR where I notice everything!

Maybe it's worse for others with slower connections perhaps? Lower end GPUs?

Agree it needs to be looked at and ideally in a Hotfix, in terms of severity though IMO it's nowhere near as bad as that UI nonsense mid beta 😄

I'm only guessing but possibly it's a by-product of the optimisation they've done - perhaps what's no longer in view gets 'unloaded' and then redraws when you change the view again?

Yes that's it saint.  I had it in one aircraft in SU3, and that was the Carenado F33, although the delay wasn't as bad as this.

I notice the ADI is the instrument worst affected, but in the default steam gauge 172, it is just about all of the dials.

I thought they had solved it in one of the betas - I noticed if you go in and out quickly, it doesn't always happen.  If you go to outside view and look around for a while, then go back in, that is when it tends to happen now.  It's like it flushes the cockpit rendering from memory and has to draw them in again.

But what about the scenery?

SU4, I am finding LOD is different.  I get AI traffic planes popping up more than in SU3, and other airport objects.

What I'm noticing the most is the rebuilding of the scenery when switching to external view. Cockpit too when switching back in but switching out is really quite jarring and although it is only a split second, it is a long split second.

Exactly!  Shouldn't happen.  Didn't happen like this in SU3 for me.

Rebuilding of scenery and objects not so much.  You always get a bit of that in MSFS, but maybe a bit worse in SU4.
For me, it is the cockpits that are really grating on me.
I would rather go back to SU3 than this.  I don't need the extra frames and don't recognise 90% of fixes on the list to be honest.  Just my opinion.

Yes, it's been reported quite a few times over there in various threads.

Weirdly, I just took a flight over London to see if the City Airport water mask has been fixed in SU4 (it hasn't) and it was the best performance I have had over London since before SU3. The transition was noticeable but nowhere near as bad as flying over open countryside. I'm still wiling to wait to see if it is only temporary.
