  • Changing drivers, fiddling with bios settings etc is not the answer here folks, it's a regression that needs to be fixed on Asobos side. You'll only go down a rabbit hole wasting your time with n

  • Because it's not always obvious, obviously--as shown in my post above I don't have it at all.  A poll might be interesting to see how widespread it is.

  • I wonder there is an easy fix from Asobo: instead of showing delayed rendering, Asobo could delay the transition by a fraction of second to allow the pre-rendering of the new scene, then switch over.

it genuinely makes me a bit dizzy sometimes!

It's not something I've noticed but I've only done one serious flight since SU4 officially dropped.

If it makes folks dizzy then it is probably just a perception thing.  It happens.

It's always been on Ultra

I had it turned up but went down to medium because this was way worse for me during the beta with it being on full. 4090 GTX. That I think combined with lower cockpit texture settings really improved my performance and scenery loading.

Tried everything from Off to Ultra. I think I've now exhausted every avenue/setting/tweak/parameter/reinstall over the past few days and am now finished. It's been a lovely year but I am out.

Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching

I don't have this aberration, and I have OSTP-C disabled in UserCfg.opt.

@St Mawgan and others affected;

What do you have

Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching

set to, in settings?

If it's anything other than Ultra try setting it to Ultra.  Mine was on 'high' and when I set it to Ultra, re-launched MSFS2024 and set up a flight in the Just Flight RJ, the issue was no longer happening.

May have been a fluke but worth a shot.

Could somebody explain me what actually that setting does?

It loads scenery and other things you can't see.  Like when you are in cockpit.

"Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching" it is not supposed to mitigate stutters when you look left or right because scenery is already loaded? Anyway with this option on I always get stutters on complex custom airports even with SU4. Btw I also see this delayed cockpit rendering or whatever it is.

Today I am having the issue,  doesn't look like the video where you see low rez edges in the cockpit then sharpen.  Instead it's just the view is not fully rendered and takes a split second to complete, esp the cockpit view.  Doesn't sound like anything fixes this but perhaps it's worth playing with OSTP-C again which I've had disable for many moons now.

It's worth noting this is hardly a reason to throw the baby out.  It ONLY happens, ultra briefly and yes of course it needs fixed and I'm certain will be, when you toggle the external view.  Everything else is as it was, ultra smooth, and otherwise fabulous IQ, in VC panning, all good, etc. So right now the fix is just to avoid this action, or don't obsess on it if you do.
