Delayed rendering when switching views since SU4

I had great performance with SU3. Best I've ever had. This however, feels like the biggest regression I've ever seen.

I have to agree with you totally on that, but I have wasted too much time on this and had enough for a bit.

I will keep my eye on things and revisit the sim in the New Year maybe, but I have too many other things to contend with now anyway, so it's a good time for me to take a break I think.  I hope Asobo can fix it for everyone soon.   All the best for a bit!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

  • Changing drivers, fiddling with bios settings etc is not the answer here folks, it's a regression that needs to be fixed on Asobos side. You'll only go down a rabbit hole wasting your time with n

  • Because it's not always obvious, obviously--as shown in my post above I don't have it at all.  A poll might be interesting to see how widespread it is.

  • I wonder there is an easy fix from Asobo: instead of showing delayed rendering, Asobo could delay the transition by a fraction of second to allow the pre-rendering of the new scene, then switch over.

Same here, not happy, especially considering the vast amount of people claiming extreme performance increases with SU4. I wonder what they do/did different compared to us?

Turning off Motion Blur fixed it for me - not that it really bothered me since it was only visible a tiny fraction of a second.

I'm feeling the same. Tried a couple of times this morning but feeling less inclined to start MSFS now. It's such a shame as just a few days ago I was in sim heaven.

Hope you have a nice Christmas!

I've never had Motion Blur enabled.

That's what I am wondering. What is the common denominator for those experiencing this compared to those not. Some are experiencing it but seemingly to a lesser degree. With me, it totally breaks immersion every time I switch views. And I kind of insist on being able to switch views at least now and then.

Besides the very obvious bug when switching views, I have a theory: my (and your) SU3 was so well optimised that the performance increase under the hood of SU4 simply do not make any impact on our end. On lesser optimized rigs the performance increase might be more noticable. Just a theory, but because in my case there is nothing obviously wrong, I honestly cant think of any other explanation.

It didn't occur until the beta started, this is 100% on Asobo to fix.

Well that could be, I only stated that it doesn't occur in every situation regarding hardware maybe in some configurations... That's why there was a thread in the beta also about this issue.
I only stated that I don't have the issue that's all and just wondering what the common factor would be regarding systems. (always curious that's my bad habit as a software engineer)
Maybe they will soon issue an hot fix for all users that experience this particular one.

It should be because it's now multi threaded the user aircraft is on a separated thread.
We have a similar system only here a RTX4080S that's the difference 🙃
Had already great performance in SU3 only with SU4 have far more headroom now to make other choices...

The fact it's happened to me with two different brands of GPU add further proof to it being an Asobo issue 🙂

Out of millions of users Asobo fixed the problem only for me so now I feel special. 😄

Thanks Asobo.

Ok it's word game to old for that 2 or 300 out of how many users 😉
I said for some configurations it could be an issue so many configurations out there, I also said I hope for those with this issue they apply a hot fix. So I never said it isn't an Asobo issue 🙃

You should also re-read two messages above yours. Anyway was trying to help.  I wish you the best and to wait for an hot fix if it's a widespread issue.

I looked at the video above I assume documenting what people are complaining about where when you change from cockpit to external the initial change is out of focus (low rez) then sharpens.  It's very visible in the video, plain to see.  Never noticed the issue since SU4 install but just now decided to pay close attention in the Fenix A320 at KDEN:  it's not happening, it's just like SU3 here.  Remember, this is a video done on the same machine so doesn't look as super sharp, plus had to d/c HDR for the video:

FWIW, using NV DLSS FG w/ TAA, Render Scale at 130, TLOD fixed at 200 for most scenarios in heavier aircraft.  Also, my best practice is to always reboot Win 11 for every flight.  I continue to use RTSS front edge sync for frame locking.  All Ultra, except disabled off-screen terrain caching which I've had off for many months, plus do not use Displacement Mapping which I saw added up to 15% impact on the CPU.  I've found SU4 to be exactly what was expected--I did not expect to see massive 'performance' improvement because it was already stellar, but I will agree with others who have noted those last rare stutters are gone in large part.  Awesome to fly over western Europe, Germany esp, and have sterling performance and land at EDDF or LFPG w/ nary a stutter.

Heads up, just relaunched and another update happened, 2Gb.  And just restarted a flight at KDEN post this update and all is the same vis a vis the issue in this thread.

1.6.33.0 looks promising but I'm away from my main PC until tomorrow now -

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/release-notes-microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-sim-update-4-1-6-33-0-available-now/749902

Particularly these bits -

Scenery Editor

Fixed painted lines causing incorrect texture rendering

Exporter Blender

Fixed incorrect transforms on child submodels whose parents are not included in the glTF.

Fingers crossed!
