January 7Jan 7 Just a bit frustrated tonight because I've been wanting a good quality VNY for years now! The ORBX version was "meh" for the short life it had, I hope others agree! Why has no one took on VNY? It is THE busiest GA airport in the country and with all the bizjets we have and will have in the future it is only right VNY gets the love it deserves. So much history there! I got my PPL out of VNY and have been employed at the airport for the last 9 years and have close relationships with a lot of higher ups! I can help ANY dev with reference photos and materials as I know this airport like the back of my hand! The “current” and only version we have seemed to have been abandoned because it hasn’t even gotten a 2024 compatibility patch. The dev never fixed the horrible stutter issues it had and left this amazing airport to rot with no updates since at least 2023. Over 3 years and NOTHING! There has been a substantial amount of changes and new property built in VNY then what the ORBX version replicates. I just WISH that one day we can get a quality Van Nuys VNY airport to fulfil this gap. If you are a dev or know someone that is or will be planning VNY PLEASE reach out to me, I would love to be a part of it. Also, if you haven't please watch the documentarie "One Six Right" & "One Six Left" Edited January 7Jan 7 by Mets737 Jay| PPL ASEL || Ryzen 7 7800x3D | MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio 24Gb | ASUS X670E-E ROG Strix | 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 | x2 32' 4K | Windows 11
January 7Jan 7 I thought the busiest was Deer Valley. Heaven knows we need a good version of that too. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
January 7Jan 7 Commercial Member Definitely agree, I tried the 2020 version in 2024 and it was bad on performance and ground glitching. Such a nice airport to fly into
January 7Jan 7 At the very least, I wish Orbx would update their existing VNY even though it wasn't great. I'm hoping them being quiet on it means they are re-doing it, but I haven't heard anything. Someone asked about it on the Orbx forum a while back and never got much of an answer. I still have the "One Six Left" on DVD somewhere. Another airport consistently at or near the top and not available in the sim is KAPA (Centennial Airport) in the metro Denver area, as is KBJC (Rocky Mountain Metropolitan) which we thankfully now have. You would think developers would be aware of stats like this to help prioritize airports which would be (at least somewhat) proportionally popular in the sim GA world. Scott
January 7Jan 7 Mets737, I’d love to see this as well. What seems like a lifetime ago I learned to fly out of Burbank (KBUR) when it used to be GA friendly. I did my first supervised solo out of Whiteman, my second out of Van Nuys, and my third out of Burbank. When I got my instrument rating, I used my dad’s C172 (was based in KWHP) which we parked at the Airtel Plaza Hotel and I used an instructor from American Flyers. Good times! In my aviation/airline career I never got to fly into those airports but they will always hold something special for me. Now I fly a 747 and we only go into KONT. Anyway, I’d love to see KVNY as well as KBUR, but I understand that Burbank is beginning to build a new terminal on the NE (old Lockheed) side, so maybe that should wait a bit. Cheers! PS my dad worked in the film industry and knew a lot of guys on the production staff for “One Six Right.” He was also friends with Clay Lacy and got an invite to Bob Hoovers wake, which was hosted by Clay at VNY. Good memories! Edited January 7Jan 7 by dvdfab5

Good memories! Wow, aviation really is a small world! I did my first solo out of WHP too. American Flyers I believe went out of business or changed their name and the Airtel Plaza ceased operations and the building will be getting destroyed (from what I was informed) soon. Man! the 747 huh? Incredible! I'm no where near that level yet but it's awesome to think that we basically started at the same place! I've probably ran into your dad at some point, I was around during the event for Bob Hoover at Clay. Thanks for the reply!
