With PSXT I have the exact number of planes that are supposed to depart within next 2 hours at t percent FR24 snapshot with arriving and departing traffic, assuming that all necessary AIG packages are being installed.

Thats right, but if you fly only in the evenings GMT time like me, this live traffic serves you nothing outside Europe, because the time difference. So I will always prefer offline traffic based on schedules for all my flights outside Europe. Unless of course PSXT supports non live traffic, this I dont know...

  • I would mention FSHud as a major competitor for ATC programs as well.

Complaining? You  mean in this thread? I don't see that, in fact it's quite a good thread reading all the experiences. Hard to keep track of all the latest updates, so it's nice to read from other peo

One thing with SayIntentions, for some reason departing AI Traffic, parked and taxing, using AIG's models have every single light on.

This doesn't happen with other AI injectors I've tested using AIG's models: default live traffic, AIG's traffic injector, FSLTL and BATC.

Edited by Tuskin38

The problem I have with injecting real world, real time traffic is that it's all uncontrolled. If it's not talking to the ATC, then personally I don't see the point of it.

I like SI's approach to traffic as it seems the most performant for me and the most set-and-forget. I like how FSLTL just runs in the background, and SI matches that experience closely. Although my current annoyance is how sparse it is in my corner of the world. What should be a major international airport has at most a lone departure. US seems to fare a bit better, maybe it's geared for that region. Hopefully that gets addressed.

Fair assessment by the OP. I am a PilotEdge (full coverage) member, SI Premium Partner and have BATC. Hands down PilotEdge is the correct addon for ATC but is limited in coverage area. SI to me, allows for ATC that provides the best catering for small GA planes out of the AI addons. That is what I fly in the sim. BATC would be my go to for flying the big boys if that was the kind of planes I flew. I know theres other ATC addons but once again, I enjoy VFR non-scheduled flights so as far as I know, all the other ATC addons are more in line with what BATC is offering.

Its great to have options. I'm currently doing a major flightseeing tour of Australia and New Zealand using SI. What I like is having a tour guide on some flights and a co-pilot on others to handle the radios on IFR flights to learn what radio calls might sound like outside of where I normally fly. With the tour guide I can ask questions as follow ups to what they talk about.  This allows me to learn a bit more. It would be the best to have Googles Gemini as a passenger or co-pilot that uses the power of AI but is aware of your location and what is happening on the flight deck. With the tour guide of SI, I can ask things like, whats that stadium, or Whats that lake off our 3 o'clock and get the correct answers. If they talk about a town, I can ask wheres that in relationship to our location. I know this has nothing to do with ATC but its worth noting.

Additionally, since I am also an OnAir user, I enjoy having the dispatch of SI. I was flying in the Black Square Baron and when I went to use auto-pilot I found it had failed and was in op. I enjoy flying as real as I can get so I called up dispatch and worked with them to find an airport that had a level 2 workshop to fix my plane. Even though the failure was from BS and not OA, I still use OA to repair the plane by paying for a 100 hour fix which blocks the use of the plane for the time needed to repair the failure and comes with a v$ cost.

SI, yesterday. voice only. No CDPLC. LIRF-EHAM, PMDG738.

I was told to expect NORKU 2A arrival for 18C approach. 10 min later I was told to expect ART1H transition, which is the night transition for 18C and I was expected to land at 2200 Zulu! Then I asked ATC for a shortcut and was provided with smooth vectoring to 18C.

A piece of cake 🙂

SI is impressive. But for my amount of flights per month simply waaay to expensive. Bummer, because several aspects of SI I would love to use.

I wonder what happened the VoxATC. I was quite interested and see what it would bring to the market but last I asked it was still in testing.

@kevinfirth any updates?

Thats what and why i use SI. Only fly General Aviation so its perfect for me. But, for others, I can see the reasoning....

This first time I ever hit a push-to-talk button in flight sim, was with VoxATC.  I think it was 2005. It blew my mind that I was talking to my PC and it sometimes understood me! 😄  Seriously it was cutting edge when released in the FS9 era.

Last news on thier website is from 2021 so it looks like its abandoned.

I have noticed that BATC generates pretty much the same amount of arrivals and departures per hour regardless of a size of an airport, but BATC has always claimed that their traffic representational, i.e. they are not trying to emulate the RL world of AI. In other words, KORD and ESSA might have the same amount of active traffic movements in BATC universe. With that being said, BATC is suitable for medium-to-small sized airports, i.e Scandinavia is a perfect playground for BATC. When it comes to large hubs, neither BATC, nor SI truly represent realistic amount traffic in such airports.

If they did though, I'd guess even a NASA computer would be brought down to it's knees.

Update: been in stasis for a few months while life and real work takes precedence.  I've been looking at a new build today as it happens, development is a mix of some new functionality, continually tweaking and improving some elements to make them work as well as we want them to, and having to rework some older elements because time and the competition hasn't and isn't being kind to them!
