I bet they will it would be a total piece of cake, at least the flyby piece, and everyone with any history of sim use in FSX/P3D/XP will be delighted to have it back and they know this--currently pushing 1100 votes for it as a wishlist item. My hunch is that indeed the impetus to introduce a new camera API likely came from a plan to...finally...implement flyby and tower views. After all we already have a highly effective complete camera solution in ChasePlane for both 2020 and 2024. February 1Feb 1 Chaseplane is a complete workaround. This is not to blame the developers, since they surely did their best without APIs. Now, having native camera APIs is great news for everyone. Not only can Chaseplane improve, but freeware camera tools will likely emerge to suit simpler needs. In my case, I am totally satisfied with the built-in camera system, if not for the lack of fly-by, which will hopefully soon be easy to implement! February 1Feb 1 The existence of chaseplane is no reason for the default sim to not have fly by and tower cameras. I have no interest in handing my camera system over to a third party software with the limitations that brings, and other than missing flyby and tower views I’m perfectly satisfied with the built in system. Correct title would be: 'Camera API Planned For SU5 Or SU6' - and that's (if at all for the public...) very old news because it was posted quite some days ago (cough...) for those who are concerned. February 1Feb 1 Please review what an API is (and what it is for) before posting uninformed assumptions. If MS would like to integrate any new views / things / whatever, no API would be needed. 'An API opens a software system to interactions from the outside. It allows two software systems to communicate across a boundary — an interface — using mutually agreed-upon signals.[3] In other words, an API connects software entities together. Unlike a user interface, an API is typically not visible to users. It is an "under the hood" portion of a software system, used for machine-to-machine communication'.
