It's by the by now, but there's a subset of people who were disappointed not because they are "haters" but the exact opposite. I like PMDG, I own and enjoy pretty much all of their products including

  • We are still on with this coffee story? I see people more than $2000 on a GPU and crying about a $20 upgrade... Those upgrade cost less than a few meals at Mc Donald's and enjoying my 737-80

  • Isn't that getting a bit old now?

Great to see the Honeywell MCP again with LN-RRY.

Goes great with my MCP EL 737 from CPFlight but drivers proberly needs an update.

Until they make up for it, never.

I do not recall being angry in the slightest when I discovered that the cost of the MSFS 2024 versions would be a bit more than a "couple of cups of coffee" (which for the record is a term of phrase that could be used to mean "not a lot", as opposed to being taken literally). I think this has more to do with some members of the flight simulation community having personal grudges against PMDG for no readily identifiable reasons.

Don't assume what other's motives are.

I hold no grudges with PMDG, bought virtually everything from them over the years.

But enough BS is enough BS. Randazzo clearly set an expectation and then they tried to gaslight everybody that he never said that, or that he didn't mean it this way.

And this kind of behaviour I will not abide by. I bought the -800 one final time, but this is the last time I give them money for anything, until they make up for this disaster in communication.

I’m not saying that you should be happy about it, but my, my, this is really overblown.

if I had to guess, I’d say that PMDG originally intended to do a 2024 Compatibility patch to the 73x series, with some kinda light buff. Probably similar to the present state of the 77x’s. They work fine, but they’re not “Native”.

Then they looked at what needed to be done to make it Native, and decided it was a much bigger project to get it done how they wanted to do.

so, yeah, if you don’t like the price, or the comm style - all good. But to act like this is some kind of betrayal is rather excessive - to say the least

Too bad your theory is blown out of the water by the fact that the coffee statements were made in late June, early August, when development was supposedly almost done according to them.

So they already knew the scope of the project.

A. Having worked with a few devs over the years, scope and timeline are subjective, esp with a multi-product company like PMDG.  So we can’t know what they decided to do, or when they decided to do it.

B. It still doesn’t change the fact that an offhand comment by the dev isn’t a contractual obligation under any reasonable perspective.
you’re really just cutting your nose to spite your face.

That's the usual copout. "I didn't give you that in writing".

Still it was a public statement, creating an expectation. And the way they brushed that aside, as if it was never in a 1000 years meant to be taken serious, was just unprofessional and outrageous.

Those upgrade cost less than a few meals at Mc Donald's and enjoying my 737-800 and 737-900 in msfs24 is more healthy than this junk food.

Life is short, enjoy your sim! Plenty of flights coming in the next 2-3 years before you need to upgrade again. So the cost per flights is not that expensive if you fly a lot.

Just my 2 cts

I wonder if English is your first language…?

Because your words are pure hyperbole and I can’t imagine why any reasonable adult would be using such language.

IIRC, Shakespeare had a line about you…

Yeah I don't get the coffee thing.   Where I am I can *easily* spend $30-$35 on 2 cups, maybe 3 of the gourmet stuff if I were so inclined.

It is not.

But I very much know how to phrase my sentences, to get the point across and I stand by each and every term I used.

Hey so, uhh, did anyone here actually buy the thing that is/isn't discounted and if so what are your thoughts?

Or should I start a different thread to actually discuss then aeroplane?

We’re a community of multilingual first languages…🙂…I wouldn’t be surprised if nearly half here answer “No” to that question.

Nonetheless, I have no difficulty understanding the intent and purpose of anyone’s communication here. Of course, whether it is right or wrong, is another matter…🙂

Hi:

I believe a couple of folks right in this thread here have purchased the MSFS2024 version of the 736. I flew the MSFS2020 736 for 5 years, to my heart’s content, in MSFS2020 (that was my only NG in MSFS2020, myself always an ardent enthusiast of this smallest NG variant). I can still fly it well in MSFS2024, just without the use of the EFB (causes CTD for me).

I hear the MSFS2024 version 736 is better in some respects. Anyway, if you are a fan of the 736, you should seriously consider it. It’s really a fun 737 to fly.

Some users have lately reported increased WASM crashes with the MSFS2024 NGs.

For a bit of variety, I went for the MSFS2024 737-900 instead, the longest NG, and greatly enjoying it now (no issues at all, as far as I can tell, no RW pilot here). It cost me the full price $49.99.

The MSFS2024 737-600 would cost $13.99 and $34.99, with and without discount respectively.

Happy flying…!
