While we wait ( potentially forever...) I highly recommend the FlyJsim Q400 for XP12.

Looks really neat. Thanks.

But, betrothed here to (only) MS Simulator for the last 25 years…🙂

I'm over it at this point... It was an amazing plane in the FSX/P3D platforms though and I really miss it's unique complex character.

  • I truly believe we won't ever see a Majestic product in MSFS. The Q400 (from any reputable dev) is a big miss.

  • So, thus far this magic thread has lead to a resurrection of the Majestic Q400…and now the announcement of a top tier 787, all within 24 hours. Quick, someone make another wish…..

If you have some deep love for that aircraft what about the XP12 option, don't own it but FlyJSim is well regarded? Flying XP12 is certainly a much nicer environment than P3D, lol.

FJS is EXCELLENT, especially since it flies in the much-nicer-than-P3D XP12.

I'm no expert, but I would expect the Majestic to be at least slightly more technically accurate (since it's a commercial training product).

But the FJS is definitely Hi Fi across the board - great experience!

Anybody know anything?

Yes, not dead, but not likely to come out this year but there might be a Beta very late this year … and yes my source is the developer.  And yes, developer/designers do have lives and things can change.

The PD3 version works very well. No point in buying another simulator just to buy another aircraft. But thanks, but no thanks.

I kept my FSX FlyInside VR build all these years alongside MSFS just to fly the Majestic Q400 and RAZBAM Fairchild Metroliner SA227-BC.

Out of all the addons it is just something about these two with the flight characteristics so unique and addictive once you learn and master them.

Was always special butterflies when it came to landings and this great distinct feeling of accomplishment when completing a flight in the Q400 or Metroliner.

Can't say I've felt such a feeling in the later platform addons lately. Maybe the BlackSquare TMB 850 being the closest to that sort of unique depth and challenge.

Booting up FSX and hopping in these two planes are like a sentimental time capsule of nostalgia for sure!

This was 9 months ago but hoping the Metroliner makes a return as well!

Hopefully the Q400 will reach the much more modern MSFS 2020/2024 platforms soon!🍻

Yes, the (turboprop) airliners such as the Metroliner are the ones that really remind me of my FSX days most, not all those big jetliners we had…

The RAZBAM SA-227C, I distinctly recall flying quite regularly, despite folks calling it affectionately (or derogatorily), the “Texas Sewer Pipe” or “San Antonio Sewer Pipe”.

In fact, when I lived in Texas for a few years, I had visited San Antonio just to visit one of the Museums there where a Swearingen-Fairchild SA-227 is preserved, as I recall.

It will be great to have this one back in MSFS.

Yea I was stationed in San Antonio for a bit and visited the Air Museum all the time!🍻

I remember hearing older flight maintenance folks recalling their absolute hatred for working on the Metroliners back in the day.

That Metroliner was just a different beast in FSX, I remember that first flight and getting frustrated with her unique delicate pitch/center off gravity characteristics on take off.

Then it just really grew on me and found myself wanting to fly her more and more. Most satisfying windy landings I've ever had for FSX standards.

Given what FSX was limited to back then.... I must say Majestic and RAZBAM sure did their thing and sprinkled some great magic into the character and immersive feel of those two addons.

Oh...yes, that's the Museum in San Antonio...Edward “Ed” James Swearingen been one of San Antonio's Aviation Legends.

I'd thoroughly enjoyed my visit to San Antonio, around Christmas time, along with that famous San Antonio River Walk. All that part of the city, including the trees alongside the river, were decorated with lights.

I wish I could visit again...

Indeed, RAZBAM and Majestic had given us a couple of really nice turboprops to fly in the earlier SIM(s).

Ok, I wish that there will NOT be a 20 page thread on why Vector don’t offer a “competitive upgrade” price for those of us with QW 787 in P3D. 😉

Meh.  I probably haven’t touched the plane in 5 years at this point.  If it comes out, great, it was fun back in the day.  If not, I’ve stopped losing sleep over it long ago.  Heck, haven’t thought about it for quite some time, and nearly forgot about it, until seeing this thread.

Disappointed the Q200/300 never came about.

(A quality Metroliner nowadays would be cool also.)

I had an email conversation with the developer a very long time ago (shortly before the P3D release iirc). I vaguely remember that he was finishing up his ATPL and his time for development simply became too limited.

Aptly put, jon.

Both you and are delighted with the 787 news, at two ends of the 787-knowledge horizon ...one who flies it and the other who has made up a username...🙂...
