March 3Mar 3 Today is Monday. I still have one pending (mandated) AI course that I need to complete by tonight...🙂... (actually, listening to a 2-hr video recording, but you cannot fast forward, and if you do, you may have to start all over again). Completion will be recognized only after taking (and passing with 80% score) a test (a quiz) at the end of it. Such tests and quizzes are for youngsters like @Joshua757, but not for me...any more...Oh well... So, I've time to do one short flight with only one a/c. My mind is drifting among the following three 737 family members: B737-600 (PMDG) - Austrian <1st 3 pictures> - Shortest NG B737-900ER (PMDG) - Factory Colors (Two Class Config) <2nd 3 pictures> - Longest NG B737 MAX 8 (Asobo/MSFS) - BBJ <3rd 3 pictures> - Latest Gen 737 See below for 3 pictures each, on the ground, of these 3 aircraft. So, I was curious, if you had access to the same trio of a/c for just one flight, which one would you fly today? You may consider the fact that you may or may not own one or more of these a/c already. Of course, most of you, in MSFS2024, already have the Asobo 737 MAX 8, though you may not have touched it yet, since you may also have the (higher fidelity) iFly 737 MAX 8. Anyway, you may have never flown the Asobo version MAX 8 and may wish to give the (luxurious) BBJ a first try today. Last year, I flew (Chicago -> Orlando) in a 737 MAX 9 and was pleasantly surprised to see the individual seatback entertainment screens in it, in a domestic jetliner, just as what you would expect in a transoceanic (long-haul) airliner. And this (BBJ) MAX below is even better... If my question sounds silly, that's fine, you can tell me so...🙂.... However, I'll appreciate if you could satisfy my curiosity by telling me which one (and only one) of the 3, tugs at your heartstrings today (and optionally why so). @Christopher Low: For you, it will be likely the Baby Boeing 736, but who knows, I'm, after all, giving you a free 739 here today, that, I think, you don't have yet. Many thanks for your responses and comments. Cheers...! Edited March 3Mar 3 by P_7878
March 3Mar 3 Firstly, I do have the 737-900 package Secondly, my decision would actually be a lot closer than you may imagine. There was a time when I considered the -900 to be a stretch too far (that award now goes to the MAX 10), but I find the -900ER to be a really stable and enjoyable aircraft to fly. Of course, I can get the -600 into plenty of airports that are not accessible in the -900, so it all depends where you want to go Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

Regarding the -900/-900ER, when I recently posted a few pictures of it in the Screenshots Forum, someone whose (FS KBT) Lockheed L-188 Electra repaints I'd used in my FSX days, said of the -900ER cabin shot, "That's a long corridor."...🙂...He's now repainting metal liveries of the TFDi MD-11 for MSFS. It's such a true pleasure running into some of these folks...in MSFS2024... Anyway, I'd time for a (relatively) short flight, but still I flew the -900ER...🙂...It flies so well for me in Xbox, just as the 736 and 777. Thanks for your feedback. Edited March 3Mar 3 by P_7878

Not enough to actually fly them, but they do have plenty of character compared to the others, and I get the impression that they're a bit more hands-on. My Black Square Bonanza keeps me busy enough for now...

There are other occasions when I’m too pressed for time to enjoy a “proper” flight and I’ll just shoot various ILS approaches around some scenic airport. One such is into the single runway at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, where you pretty much MUST land with an average +10kt tailwind due to the mountains and heavily populated areas just off the south side of the runway. I bring up that particular example as it is the airfield where a USN P-8 Poseidon (a navalized 738) landed long and ran off the runway - right into the salt water bay just off the runway 😮 Strong tail winds of 20-ish knots were likely a factor (as well as poor visibility). It’s also a fun airfield to flaunt the rules and perform (very) tight circles to land to the North. The close-in 3,000’ sheer cliffs tend to heighten your focus, and you really have to stay ahead of the aircraft to bring it in “safely”. 😁

That will teach @ryanbatc a lesson, when he someday maybe leaves his ATC occupation, and possibly fly an A320 airliner, just as he did recently with the Fenix A320....

March 3Mar 3 If the 737 MAX in question was the iFly, then it would definitely be worthy of consideration... but the Asobo job? ..... nah! 😄 So from the other two, well I'm only a PMDG 737-800 owner, so the question would be, do I fancy flying a short and shifty version of my usual steed, or a version that thinks it's a replacement for a 757 😊 In the event, I think I's go for the -600 and fly an Air Algerie flight from my payware DAAG addon to my payware HLLT addon 👍😎 Edited March 3Mar 3 by JYW Bill 😎FS2024 • Currently in 'GA mode' : A2A Comanche 2024 & Aerostar • Black Square C208, Bonanzas, Barons, TBM850, Dukes • COWS DA40 & DA42 • FSW Legacy, C24R Sierra & C414 • Echo Falco F8L • FFX HJET, Visionjet and P180 2024 • Got Friends A32 Vixxen • FSReborn Sirius TL3000, Sting S4 and Piper M500 • Flyboy Rans S6S • Skyward DA50RG • SWS Zenith CH701, RV-8, RV-10, RV-14, PC12 • Milviz C310R • Air Foil Labs Bristell B23 TrackIR • BeyondATC • PMS GTN Payware • RealTurb • Axis & Ohs • FS Realistic Pro9800X3D • RTX 3080 • 64GB DDR5-6000NPPL licence holder in the UK

IIRC, the big boys are limited to 250kts (there at least), whereas the Tac Jets are allowed to go considerably faster. Plenty of other MTRs/MOAs available, but this is one where the public can get up close and personal. And it’s just gorgeous scenery, unlike e.g., the Sidewinder route in the US. March 3Mar 3 My rule of thumb is, if it's too big to land at EGLC (London City), then it's too big to interest me. I want to fly to wherever I want, not to only wherever the runways are long enough. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
