March 4Mar 4 Is it just me or is there a problem with this site and Google Chrome? I have the latest version installed but can't access any topics using Chrome but no issues with Microsoft Edge. This has only happened in the last few days and every time I try to access a topic I get an Error saying: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. All of the other websites and forums I use on Chrome seem to be fine. March 4Mar 4 Administrators I'm using a Chromebook with Google Chrome as the browser. No problem. Key Troubleshooting Steps: Clear Cache: Clear your browser cache entirely. Restart Browser: Close and reopen your browser to clear temporary session data. Google Help +4 Clear Cookies for the Site: In Chrome, click the lock icon next to the URL, go to "Site settings" or "Cookies and site data" > "Manage on-device site data," and remove stored data for that site. Use Incognito/Private Mode: Open a new incognito window and try loading the site to confirm if it is a cookie issue. Try a Different Browser : Switching browsers can confirm if the issue is restricted to the original browser's data . March 5Mar 5 I have the problem as well, but only with Chrome on my Macbook. Chrome on my Windows PC works fine, even though its history is synced with the Macbook version. I did empty the cache and that helped, but only temporarily. After logging in to Avsim once or twice, the problem was back. I am using Firefox now for Avsim only. This problem started a few days ago and goes in hand with an unpleasant experience with ads on this site. Videos with sound that start without any user interaction, and restart repeatedly even when you stopped it; overlay pop-ups that are triggered whenever you click on "mark site read"; Ads that cover half the page. And all these problems are exclusive to Avsim, I have no issues with any other web page.
March 5Mar 5 Avsim is impossible to use on mobile (Android) for me for the last week or so. Something has changed with the way ads are shown. I can get to the main page as I have a shortcut but if I try to open any of the threads it just goes to 'Bad Request' and I have to end the session. The only way to get in is with Incognito mode. March 5Mar 5 I cleared my cookies for AVSIM and I stopped getting the Bad Request errors. John C. Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.
March 17Mar 17 same problem here. I cleared my cookies and after one successful request to the forums, I get the same 404 error again on the next click. What happened? AVSIM is the only site doing this. Is it a server setting that was changed to reduce headers size (I understand it could be related to security)

On iOS devices. My regular Chrome shows videos all over, inline ads every 3-4 posts and one click on any post results in Bad Request errors. Yes, incognito works but still annoying. Really drives me away to other sites. And yes, it just started about maybe 2 weeks ago. Somebody must know what he changed. And that is not me. March 31Mar 31 Also having the same issue - have to keep clearing cookies to get it to work. The video ads on pages are also making it unusable on mobile now. O completely get why they are there but half of this message as I type is being hidden by an ad….. https://maxpax444.com
March 31Mar 31 It looks to me like this is a server-side settings issue. I am forced to use the Edge browser to visit the AVSIM forums, I hope they can look into this and fix it as it is annoying switching from one browser to another just to visit one site.
April 9Apr 9 Exactly the same for me, only started happening a few days ago, but the forums are essentially unusable for me now on Android. The workarounds mentioned above don't really work for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Cleared all cookies, site data, browsing data, then 5 mins later problem is back. It's clearly not on our end, the site doesn't currently work with Chrome on Android. It really shouldn't be up to us to jump through hoops to make our devices work with the site, it should be up to the site to fix the issue. I'm not faffing around with other browsers just to visit one site, I'll just stop visiting here instead simple as that.
