April 4Apr 4 I just watched the video of the soon to be released PMDG 737 It struck me how far simming has progressed in the last 5-6 years. We're jaded. We're spoiled. But, coming from P3D and FSX, you have to pinch yourself (sometimes) to make sure it's all real. April 4Apr 4 Yes it's amazing especially for us guys who came from SubLogic days I'm glad we can have these levels of visual fidelity without total performance destruction. We've had non-visual high fidelity systems stuff for years but now we get the visuals to match. So yeah, pinch me too! Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

April 4Apr 4 Yes we are spoiled, but no, I'm not jaded. The state of flight simming is astonishing at the moment, and will get even better. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

We have way more 3rd party developers in the MSFS ecosystem now, competing against each other, and the competition leads to more progress. Obviously, MSFS 2024 is light years beyond what we had back in 2019, and it's the most advanced civilian flight simulator right now. Look at the default GA avionics for MSFS, no civilian flight simulator had default GA avionics as good as MSFS back in 2019 (thanks to the Working Title team of course). And look at the FPS you can get with MSFS 2024 - with the latest multiframe gen module, people are getting over 200 FPS with just an RTX 4090, nevermind using an RTX 5090. But aside from MSFS 2024 being such an advanced flight simulator, the 3rd party community for MSFS is extremely strong now. The MSFS ecosystem isn't just supporting virtually all of the P3D developers that moved over to MSFS, it's even supporting some XP developers that have dipped their toes into MSFS (ie. iniBuilds, Toliss), and even supporting some DCS developers that have also dipped their toes into MSFS (ie. Heatblur). With even more 3rd party developers competing in the MSFS ecosystem compared to before MSFS, I think the competition has raised the bar. And after being a strictly MS/ESP shop for many years, IFT have also diversified into DCS World with their rather nice MB 339, and pending G91. The former ESP devs went to MSFs because they had no choice. The others are looking for diversification. The modern MSFS casts a definite halo, but it’s hardly a one way street. April 4Apr 4 The sim will stay great until Microsoft stops making enough money with it and so they turn the servers off. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Meaning Heatblur isn't heavily involved with MSFS, but they do have a solo project for MSFS now that they are doing themselves without any cooperation with India Foxtrot Echo this time, the F4E: https://fselite.net/content/heatblur-announces-f-4e-phantom-ii-for-microsoft-flight-simulator-2024/. So they are kind of "dipping their toes" in MSFS, making additional money on the side. But I assume their main focus is still on DCS World. I had honestly completely forgotten about their Phantom for MSFS! I had been thinking about their other collab, the F-16A. Interestingly, IFT are still waiting for the 3D model from HeatBlur, so that’s an interesting issue, and I wonder when it will arrive The HB Phantom in DCS is utterly amazing, by any standard. And it’s not because I’m a fan of the IRL Phantom (I’m much more a Tomcat guy). If HB can bring that level of fidelity to MSFS (and I believe it’s possible), then it will be like A2A, Black Square, and Fenix all wrapped into one Mach 2 package! It’ll be one of those addons that everyone should buy just to experience it first hand. Hopefully, “Soon” 😂

Yup agreed... iniBuilds went all-in and exclusive on MSFS of course, and I'd venture to say Toliss by all what they've said/done so far appear to be more than dipping their toes. For example they've stated the new external FM is meant to make it easier for them to cater to both MSFS and XP with a mostly common codebase, etc. That sounds to me like they're definitely intending to develop more aircraft for MSFS, and with the success and reception of the A340 why wouldn't they, especially when visuals are being taken care of by Aerosoft. I'd say Toliss have entered the MSFS market with both feet 😉 With the 2024 platform and its capabilities + SDK as they currently stand, any high fidelity dev who wants to cash in on the MSFS market can do so, especially if it's an aircraft not already available (i.e. not another A32x hehe) Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

It seems like the Aerosoft-Toliss A340 was a very successful release and if Toliss considered it to be a successful release, I think there is a chance that Toliss brings their A330 to MSFS, maybe in another collaboration with Aerosoft again. April 4Apr 4 Wow. I am not even a big 737 fan, but I am very impressed by what I am seeing in that video!
