The PMDG 737NG High Detail Update: MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Same ported sounds? The sounds in the MSFS 2024 version of the 737 are a significant improvement on the sounds that came with the MSFS 2020 version. In fact, I am now keen to hear what they can deliver with the 777 sounds, even though I have the Boris Audioworks package installed for that aircraft.

Haha, they're trying hard to keep up with the iFly.  Not quite managing though, especially compared to what's coming out soon from iFly.

Yep. 2024 is superior than 2020 in every way. Better physics, better weather, more options for the third parties to build more realistic aircraft.

Yeah because those are the aircraft so many people have wanted to buy! Randazzo is a pragmatist, and a successful one.  He'll adjust PMDG’s business model as necessary to continue that succe

Triple 7 wise. When it first released they said they were all new, majority complained and then they admitted they were ported from P3D and what a bad job they did at doing that.

Wanted or not, Fenix are 3 airplanes vs 2, $90 vs 85. An A319 is an A320 variant. A 777 is not a 737 variant.

Good lord. And here I thought you MIGHT be starting to understand…

Here, let me simplify it for you:

I generally only want ONE variant of any particular airframe.

And, like everyone, I’d like to pay the least amount of money for it.

if I want a high Fidelity Airbus A320, my least expensive option is $70

But, if I want a high Fidelity 777, PMDG has me covered for $50

OR

if I’m strapped for cash, I can still score a hi Fi 737 for $35.

In closing, PMDG has The Best deals going for Hi Fi airliners.

so, do you get it, and the larger point…this time?

You need to switch the 737 and 777 in your post

Not over time it doesn't. Especially when nothing major has changed mentioned by others. Maybe you can start understanding where others are coming from. Maybe not.

You can't be saying $35 for the same ported product is good along with the previous times that nothing had changed. Are you gullible?

I'll give credit where credit is due. I've bashed PMDG on their exterior / interior model in the past, because -- well, we all know. But this is truly a step up and I finally believe that the $35 upgrade fee is mostly worthy. Anyone know if their 777 is getting the same treatment? I'm on the fence about the 777F, but into it for the price. There's TONS of them flying around and doing cargo ops could be a fun change of pace.

Not according to RSR.

I'll retract my earlier comment - I was watching on my phone, but just having rewatched in 4k, I can see many differences and improvements.  Whether it's worth it as an update I'll leave to others to decide individually....

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

pretty sure there will be, as when I first checked on Gaya's website there was a 777 picture as well. See my post on page 2. It has now been removed ( most likely PMDG wants to hide).

Gullible…? Not at all.

Like I said elsewhere, PMDG make premium products.

And like any premium product, there will be ongoing costs to keep it fresh and up to date.

I’m in the software biz, and all I can tell you is that your perspective that the current PMDG products are “simple ports”, as though there’s some automagic conversion process, are laughably simple minded.

You may not be satisfied with the end results, and that’s fair.

But to state as fact that PMDG addons haven’t been improved just proves - beyond any shadow of a doubt - how misinformed you are.

I wouldn't say premium when its just the same over and over again. "Like any premium product, there will be ongoing costs to keep it fresh and up to date." Over the years nothing has changed drastically for PMDG to charge so much.

PMDG even admitted things were ported over to save time they openly admitted it so next excuse... They haven't really been improved even the pilots on here have told you so but facts hurt I guess.

So here's the page on Gaya Studios website showcasing the work they've done for PMDG as part of this update.

How many man hours do you think has gone into this? How much do you think this might have cost?

Do think the texture artists at Gaya took the FSX textures, put them in a pc and then pressed a big button marked 'PORT'.?
