Live Real World Traffic Date injected directly into BATC!

Hello @everyone,

We have some exciting news to share about a feature coming to BeyondATC very soon!

Many of you will have seen Navigraph's recent announcement of their partnership with FlightRadar24, which brings live real-world flight data to the flight sim community.

Read more here - - it's a game-changer for immersion, and we've been working closely with Navigraph to bring this data directly into BeyondATC to take your traffic experience to the next level.

We're thrilled to say that development is around 80% complete, and we'll be rolling this out to our experimental builds for testing very soon!

Here's what you need to know:

* ***What it is:*** Real-world live traffic data integrated into BeyondATC, supplementing your existing traffic experience

* ***What's required:*** A linked Navigraph account with an active Unlimited subscription

* ***Is it optional?*** Absolutely — this is an entirely optional addition. Our schedule-based traffic will continue to be included as part of the one-time purchase price, because we remain fully committed to keeping core features subscription-free

* ***When?*** Experimental build testing is starting soon — stay tuned!

We can't wait for you to try it out and hear what you think. As always, your feedback during testing will be invaluable in shaping the final release. Once we are happy with the outcome of testing in our experimental builds, it will move into our EA branch for everyone

So this should greatly increase the traffic when using BATC. As it stands, even with the sliders maxed out, traffic is pretty sparse.

Depends on where you fly. I do not see the sparsity you speak of.

I'm using PSXT with a Real Traffic subscription of course, and find the 100% accuracy far outweighs (for me) not being part of the overall ATC especially given the latter's limitations/foibles. I get

Does Beyond ATC control the traffic on the ground ?

For example .. can it assign runways for departure and arrival ?

As a matter of fact can any program make use of multiple runways at the large airports instead of being forced to funnel everything through 1 runway ?

I've seen BATC using different departure and arrival runways plenty of times. It lacks on ground handling though, more often than not you get cleared to taxi into AI traffic (or them through you).

BeyondATC already uses airport configurations that reflect how airports typically operate. The system takes several factors into account when determining which runways are active. The current system does a good job already even if you could add more complexity. You can learn more about it here: https://wiki.beyondatc.net/knowledge-base/airport-sop/

Can’t wait to see it! Nice surprise.

BATC's AI Aircraft are controlled by a separate specially written program that runs parallel to but outside of MSFS, using any available AI aircraft models such as FSLTL, AIG, MSFS Default etc. This alleviates any FPS drop in MSFS and allows BATC to do things that an integral program would not allow. Regarding airport layout etc, this is firmly within the remit of Asobo/MSFS, although it is possible to edit airports and BATC are doing this all be it very slowly as there are thousands that need adjusting.

It all depends on the payware airport. I've seen some brilliant results, while at some airports, I could NOT even get proper taxi guidance.

Let me say first, that I love and support BATC. I wish them success.

But, this is another example of the BATC team not staying focused. They should focusing on fixing the approach phase of IFR flights. In most cases, this phase is still a mess.

My last few flights, the approach phase was a failure and I did not see any arrival or departing traffic at my destination airport.

Before adding VFR or this now useless feature that required a separate sub, they should consider finishing what was promised.

They asked for feedback and we gave it to them, and this is how they improve their add-on.

Wow that’s pretty cool, nice to have the option when flying in real time. I could see this being particularly useful at GA / business jet oriented airports as well.

Pretty much everywhere. An airport like KATL will obviously have more traffic, but still not remotely close to what it is like in real life.

Great addition, though I usually fly in the evening and pick a real flight to simulate. That means I might fly at 8pm real time and 10am sim time.

So unfortunately it won’t be much use for me. If they could somehow include a 24-hour history from FR24 that would change things completely and be amazing!

I'm not sure I agree in this specific instance. Navigraph just announced the collaboration with Flightradar 24, which makes the feature readily available to third-party developers. I'd imagine this will become table-stakes for ATC programs very quickly. I'm not sure it's something they could really postpone for long. Plus, given how quickly they plan to get it into the experimental branch, it doesn't seem like it was a tremendously heavy lift.

I think it's BATC AI engine that cannot handle the amount of traffic that KATL/KLAX have IRL. I also hope FR24 brings more traffic, but I keep my hopes low. So far PSXT is the only option for 100% IRL traffic, but it has its own limitations (not a part of overall ATC)
