iFly 737 Max version 1.1.0.0 is out now

iFly’s current plan after SP1 in regards to future MAX products:

  1. To focus on MSFS 2024 native development only, taking advantage of all new technologies included in MSFS 2024 at that time.,

  2. Development of the MAX 9 (MSFS 2024).,

  3. Consideration of the MAX 10 and MAX 7 (only upon official certification and placement into service of these types).

It's probably going to be another year at least for the MAX 9 at this rate. The MAX 7 and 10 can wait since they are not certified and in service yet but the MAX 9 is the work horse and more popular than the MAX 8 in US skies at least. I hoping to see iFly introduce it a bit sooner but it is what is what it is.

Maybe with a bit of luck it will come sooner? The native version for FS2024 just might make it out in the next few months. After that work begins on the MAX 9. Not sure if it is still this way but back in the old days once you have the systems finalized the rest is just modeling. Of coarse the models are a lot more detailed but I imagine perhaps a 3 or 4 months after the FS2024 MAX 8 is released? Just maybe the MAX 9 will make it time to for Christmas? We will just have to see!

This comment doesn't really make sense. SP1 was never going to be native 2024. That was communicated very clearly on the roadmap after initial release. SP1 first, native 2024 next, Max9 and furthe

  • Very happy with this SP1. EFB awesome. Hand flies very nice. Systems seem spot on. Performance really good too. My new Boeing favourite.

  • That could be one of the many problems....some users mention they've done it, other's have not mentioned if they did. The bottom line is that iFly and Flight1 are keenly aware of the performance issue

Well the new iFly EFB suits me, as a simmer, just fine.

I don’t have experience with it personally. But what I’ve seen on the YouTube, it looks very very nice. 😊

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

The point stands whether you semantics-check ACARS or not. My original post was about dropped promises like CPDLC and the fact that iFly literally labeled this MSFS 2024 build as 'Experimental'. If it was so 'polished' and took a 'looooong time', they wouldn't need to put an experimental warning on it. A couple of smooth flights on your end doesn't wipe out the cut features and official limitations.

This has been discussed before, but SP1 was never going to be native 2024. They've been clear about that since the beginning. It was always going to be a compatibility build, which is why the majority of beta testing occurred in 2020. There is no broken promise regarding 2024, you got exactly what you were promised in that regard.

To my knowledge, the only thing that has changed was the plan to include CPDLC. That was reevaluated when it was realized that including this feature would significantly delay SP1 release, and there didn't seem to be a reason to delay getting the hundreds of other improvements out to people, for just one function many simmers wouldn't even use. CPDLC is still coming, just as a separate update.

The use of the term "rushed" makes me chuckle here.

You are mistakenly assuming that I don’t know the difference between LED and incandescent lights.

Of course not. What I was trying to say is that these are more different than just the technology used. They are physically very different light arrays with a very different appearance. That said, I see that there is a livery - specific issue, especially in outside views? I don't spend time in outside views in the sim, so I've probably never noticed what you're seeing. From in the cockpit though, at least on the livery I use, yeah the beacon and strobes look realistic to a Max. It's a significantly different look than the older style lights on the NG.

Interesting - the PMDG auto trims for me all the time in manual flight after takeoff. And I usually have mid-high weights and a as-low-as-possible thrust. Does that mean the PMDG is wrong in that regard?

It always struck me as overdone on the PMDG. It depends a bit on the model though; you'll see speed trim a bit more frequently on the -700 compared to the long bodies.

The PMDG implementation of it always kind of bugged me though; like we said, the effect the STS is there to counteract doesn't exist in the sim, so PMDG was somehow changing the trim state of their aircraft to give the STS something to do (dynamically sliding the CG around maybe?), and you could feel this happen before the STS activated, and it made the flight model feel annoyingly unstable and artificial, to me anyway. I don't see much point in that kind of hackery to model a system that's just not applicable in the sim; it seems a lot of work just so users can hear the trim run sometimes. Could just play the sound 😉.

I get that different simmers have ideas of what helps with the "immersion" effect so this is partially subjective on my end, but to me, since I know it's entirely normal to fly a flight and never see speed trim once, I'd rather just have every sim flight be one of those flights, vs getting into flight model hackery that worsens the feel of hand flying. YMMV though (sincerely, not being snarky.)

I've got into trouble before but I'll say it again. I just can't understand why real world pilots would want to come home from work and fire up MSFS and expect it to be exactly like their job. In fact I can't understand why anyone is so obsessed with their job that they would want it on their PC? But hey-ho.😀

A little while back I got into ATS truck sim. Great great product. So I told my retired truck driver brother about it.

Now he spends his days on it.

When I asked why? he said driving was fun but now he could do it without all the stress involved.

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

Love the new update.

Still goes in the wrong direction on pushback. I never did figure that out.

Now I just need a new Delta livery and I am all set.

Hah, was just having this conversation last night. It's an interesting question, right?

The short answer is that we're airplane geeks. So, not much different from any other simmer lol.

But the sandbox world has always fascinated me. I love playing with the level D sims when I'm in the training center as well; a multi-million dollar device is a different experience than a $75 video game obviously, but it's the same fascination. I find the current state of desktop simulation to be RIDICULOUSLY good for, again - $75 video game. It makes me smile every time I fire it up.

In this world, you're obviously going to want to try airplanes you know well, to really see how good the world is, right? Well, the airplane we all know best is the current work airplane. So, if you look at it that way, it would seem to make good sense.

The other thing about me personally is that I'm a human factors geek as well as an airplane geek. What fascinates me even more than a digital version of the airplane, where "flip this switch and that happens" is modeled correctly, is that the operating environment can feel familiar. Allow yourself to get distracted in the sim and the airplane will bite you in all the same ways it will in the real world. The difference is, you don't allow that to happen in the real world. But in the sim... I like to stream, for example, and so I'm often distracted while simming as I'm having a discussion with chat etc, and then the airplane surprises me, and it's so much fun to see that happen in a consequenceless way.

And then if you put it all together, on a busy night on Vatsim with changing weather conditions, controllers needing to turn an airport around, people sweating fuel etc... You start to see all the same threats that would bite people in reality if they went unmanaged, start to bite people in their sims because they DO go unmanaged. It's validation of all these best practices I've been teaching people for 30 years 😉.

Geekery, is the easy answer 😁.

Dumb question but where can I find the sliding sun visors for the forward windows?

In the cubby on the wall of the cockpit near the floor, outboard of your seat. There's a stowage pocket there for them.

Installation settings won't magically code a missing CPDLC, fix a broken ACARS, or resolve known code inconsistencies in the experimental MSFS 2024 build. Good for you that it runs fine on your old 2080Ti, but white-knighting for a rushed SP1 and calling other community members 'cavemen' doesn't change the facts or the bugs mentioned in the documentation itself.

Sir if you're having all these issues why not post your complaints on Flight 1 discord for help. why come on a public forum and blast your hate and accusations about the SP1 update being a joke. Are you looking for some kind of affirmation from people to start pilling on how you feel? I also ran into some issues, but I went to their support and they helped me through all my issues. I don't have to air my displeasure out on public forum to make myself feel better. One of the beta testers has been answering your concerns and trying to help you, but that's not what you want. you want everyone to know that SP1 is a joke because it's not working for you instead of accepting help. Enjoy your day.
