....but, the day the Black Square Commander 114 comes out, I expect it to replace the Bonanza as it's an absolute favourite of mine and I have about 10 times more rw hours in the 114 than in a Bonanza. 😎

I think a lot of these add ons now are so good they’d support the use of just the host sim and a single add on, and you’d still be entertained

.Like back in the old days where some sims came with just one aircraft, like the Lufthansa endorsed A320 simulator on the Commodore Amiga , or acrojet

Only one - Black Square TBM 850 - it's got the perfect panel imo, TDS GTNxi, and AP well within view, and for GA ops, a pretty fast cruise speed - and it's getting sounds from Echo 19 eventually ;)

Airliner: meh probably just the pmdg 737-700

Bizjet: That is really tough - split between the Sovereign and the Phenom! Or maybe the ini Global - Or the Praetor - or the upcoming I can't mention LMAO!

Turboprop: The BS 850 as mentioned above -runner up the FSR M500 - the best flight turbine flight model and sounds but it's too slow and G1000 is icky haha

Piston: ooooo another tough one for me. I can't decide between the Black Square Baron 58P or the A2A Aerostar... even the FSW Legacy or the upcoming A2A Legacy, or the BS Bonanza.... If I was on a desert island (with starlink and power LOL) and I could only fly one forever.... I'd take the B58P!

Helo: hmmm I really enjoyed the H160 for 2020 but HPG is kinda gone now - the 225 was really cool but now its totally borked. The Taog 500C is pretty good but too basic for my style of flying. I could be okay without a helicopter!

Military: I'd be fine without

So, if sim development stood still right now, I guess I'd stick with the PMDG BBJ1 I've been using. I've grown quite fond of it. I've boosted the MTOW to 79 according to my own regulations (I think that's what the Australian Air Force uses in theirs).

I saw a seating chart where it was outfitted with 20 business angle flat seats in the front (although I think it could also fit as many Polaris lie flats from a United 757, and 66 economy seats crammed behind the overwing emergency exits in the back, so 86 pax in total. Also I've got the max aux tank configuration set up, so overhead bins and space under the seats in front of you crammed to the max! Just set payload at 100%. And I've set up the cockpit to look as old as possible, also with the eyebrow windows (stuff some charts in there if you need to, or just enjoy the extra view). Maybe a little bit of a modernized 707 feeling on long hauls, although a tad bit slower in cruise.

And there were a few so called 737-700ER's in Japan a while back which are essentially the same. I'll call it that as well, since BBJ sounds too posh.

Quite a versatile little thing. Go lightweight and try super short runways and cramped ramps at tiny remote airstrips, or load up to the max and fly in and out of larger airports. Range is around 6,000 nm if you cut back on the payload. I like it!

Surprising that so far the Fenix A320 has not been mentioned (vs the PMDG 737).

For longevity, depth and sense of ownership. If I could have only one , even though I don’t particularly fly it that often it would have to be the A2A Comanche.

That's a good point.

Although I chose just one plane (the Black Square Bonanza) as I'm mostly a GA guy these days, if I were to extend my selection to an airliner as well, it would 100% be the Fenix A320. Even with more recent airliner releases, I still think it's in a league of its own.

Oh, YES - you should!

The Default Cabri G2 is Asobo’s Reference Model (like the C172), so it’s a good place to start.

The Taog’s Huey from the Stranger Things expansion is a natural next step. Good addon, like all of his work!

For Bush planes, there are also a handful included. Taildraggers can take a bit of practice, but it’s pretty fun once you get the hang of it!

And of course, the Default Cessna Caravan is a legitimate bush plane, too. So don’t hesitate to experiment there with off-runway operations! 😁👍

This has made me think about the fact that I've never, ever flown a helicopter in MSFS2024 or MS2020. The last helicopter I flew was in XP10 about 12 years ago I think! I'm terrible at flying helos in sims and tend to lose patience with my appalling lack of progress, quickly!

I might try a buzz in the Cabri tonight. Thanks for the inspiration!
