......except that a fully stabilised aircraft on final approach should not dip, climb or turn at all when the autopilot is switched off. That's the entire point (I would assume) of preparing the aircraft for landing.

Its for sure something that needs to be adressed. I just wanted to point out that its not so dramatically, that it's a show stopping bug.

  • That's exactly how I feel, and if just one was available from JF as of tomorrow, I'd just buy the F70, as I see it as more of a pure RJ. But as far as I can see only the bundle is listed on JF as of n

  • UK price for the individual planes is £49.99 so you don't save much compared to the bundle of both for £59.99

  • Personally, I don't think so. Just Flight doesn't need to operate that way - their stellar reputation speaks for itself, and that is reflected online. Any new release from them is eagerly anticipated

I'm going to delay buying this until they add full hardware FMC capability. I use spad next to power my home cockpit. For an $85 addon, I find it ridiculous they chose not to support hardware FMC's.

Just flown a few test circuits the F70..

*With calm winds it’s absolutely solid and a joy to fly, no issues with speed control at all.

* On autopilot disconnect there is a marked pitch up, most undesirable, especially in a RW aircraft equipped for LVOs and autoland, so that’s an issue that needs addressing.

* I added a slight crosswind at 18 gusting 25, that’s nothing too taxing in the RW, AP & AT off, between gusts it was stable, however when the gusts hit I saw a loss of 50kts IAS on one of them, for the exercise I continued fighting it down to the ground. There was some nasty pitching and speed deviation.

Needless to say that wasn’t realistic behaviour for those conditions.

I want to just make it clear though I don’t blame the F70 or just flight for this behaviour at all, it’s without doubt the base sim.

I say that with confidence as I’ve seen the exact same sort of behaviour with other swept wing add ons, namely the Cessna sovereign, while flying in real weather with a gusty 20kt quartering wind, I had a wing drop turning base and rolled inverted, losing the aircraft.

I must admit I’m starting to get a little frustrated with the aerodynamics in the base sim to the point I’ll now only fly swept wing jets with the wind turned off.

I only fly in calm conditions, so that is one issue that I do not have to worry about. However, the "pitching up or down" on final approach after disengaging the autopilot is definitely something that I could not accept, so I will be interested to see what JustFlight can do over the next few days/weeks. To be honest, I am surprised to hear of an issue like this, considering that the aircraft has been in development for a long time.

Having said that, the Avro RJ Professional was permanently consigned to the maintenance hangar because of an unacceptable "bouncing" (pitching up and down) during descent with the autopilot engaged. I absolutely detest "bouncing" (which is why the PMDG 777F is also temporarily unavailable for flight duties). I know that many of you do not see this issue with the Avro RJ Professional, but it completely destroyed my enthusiasm to fly the plane. A real shame.....

I still haven’t purchased the F70/F100 quite yet (trying to master my new A2A Aerostar and the new FJS 732 in XP12) but I DO have the F28 by JustFlight - that little beauty seems to do everything right and don’t recall having any issues in wind with her, but want to test later now?

In any case, the F28 flight model and F70 should be very similar in terms of wing at least, which (if OK) should give JF clues to help tweak the F70/F100 as needed? Not sure of all the differences between say the F28 and F70 (and wish there was an excellent history book on these to join my book collection!).

That awesome 737-200 I referenced needed some tweaks on release too, and they’ve been busy tweaking and releasing as needed, I’m sure JF will do the same.

I did a go-around in the F70 today with the A/P connected and it was mad. The aircraft rolled wildly to the right and pitched up massively. I was really looking forward to this aircraft but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. For something this price, to have no failure module is poor; I wanted to dig in with the QRH and do some interesting stuff in this! And the current flight dynamics and general bugs are a bit disappointing too. It will straighten out I know over the coming months and updates but I can't help feeling this is a bit 'meh' really. Nevertheless, I will keep to my strategy of putting it in the hangar and letting it mature a bit.

Did you start with your engines running? (Or use an automatic setting to set up the plane).

AFAIK, the INIT B page disappears if the engines have been started before the INIT has been completed.

This is a real life behaviour and applies to the Airbus too.

I did start with engines running as that's how I usually start a flight in FS2024 and never had this limitation with the FMS's of other aircraft I flew in FS2024. I never did use the FMS in an Airbus in FS2020 as I only flew the A320 a few times in FS2020 and from starting from the runway in an engines-on state and never used the FMS those times on those aircraft. So, basically if I want to start from engines running state in the F70 and F100, the PROF mode won't be functional and I will have to rely on FLCH or VS for my climb and do a manual top of descent again using the VS or FLCH during the descent if I want to use the autopilot for climbs and descents?

Sorry, are you saying that VNAV mode (whatever that is in the Fokker) does not work if you start at the runway with engines running?? 😕

Well, yes and no.

His issue is that the INIT B page is unavailable to him, because he starts the flight with the engines running. But that is a realistic representation of the FMS. INIT B concerns fuel-related pre-flight calculations, so if the engines are started and fuel begins to be burned, the INIT B page is inaccessible as it can no long compute everything that it needs to.

Again, this is real-world behaviour and the Airbus A320 works exactly the same.

This is a high-end addon, systems-wise, so I guess it's just a case that if you want to use the systems to their full breadth, starting the flight with the engines running is going to prevent some aspects of being able to do that.

If JF had built it so that INIT B was still available with the engines running, some people would have complained that this was not realistic 😉

Having said all of that, I'm not fully convinced that not populating the INIT B page will actually prevent Profile (VNAV) mode from working. I've only made 2 flights in this bird so will need to dig deeper. As I never start a flight with the engines running, I was able to populate INIT B, Profile mode worked fine, and I didn't see any issues.

I did another test flight with F70, KCRQ-KSFO I didn't experience any pitching moment when I disconnected autopilot . I had some crosswind around 10 kts during landing . I disengaged autopilot 1000 AGL. Approach was stable without any problems.
