  1. Runways that look like (used) runways. Still virtually zero skidmarks and whatever wear and tear I see still seems to be layered below the markings, unbelievable. Plus their lighting which is in parts still terrible and unrealistic compared to the overall quality of the product but I’ve brought that up again and again.
  2. As long as it's there... some lo-res NYC and SFO action with almost down-to-street level. Still quite some bridge problems there, as the cars flying up the cables and the street ortho down below the actual 3d models... 🤪 Hard to believe those runways still look like freshly paved. Not a trace of skidmarks, unbelivable. I wonder when this is gonna get a fix. And once again we witness some exceptional piloting skills, dropping the gear at 380 knots on short final. Neat. 🙄
  3. Phew, and I feared we were stuck with the Garmin. 😅
  4. Or course I will upgrade the whole rig at a later point, but not on day one. I’d just like to see how (or actually, if at all) it would run on the old system.
  5. I still hope the installation path can be changed easily. My main SSD being really old does not even have 150 free gigs (by FAR), it doesn’t even have this total capacity. 😂 So I wonder if the „app“ will eventually install at all.
  6. Uhm. Guess we’ll have to wait for the SDK instead of speculating. Since they brought in a lot of feedback from 3PD already they might know what people need.
  7. Yes of course, as I understand the video: there are 80 more detailed airports. I'd assume these are in all editions. At least I have no information that states different. Standard: 50 +30 iconic, Deluxe 45 +35 iconic, Premium 40 +40 iconic. So what 40 airports are "missing" and even more why they should be in the marketplace I don't really get. But I'm not in the alpha so that's just my assumption.
  8. That's not how I understand the video. They state that all 37K are hand crafted. A number of them being high detailed. But how I get it all were created from Bing imagery. That's exactly what they said in the vid. Very good post. Rather than simulate these "annoying" things, I'd so much like to have some extensive failure module. In the future at least, since we've heard nothing about such functionality so far. Any flight simulator, especially talking about FFSs, has the ability to train a vast amount of situations and fail virtually everything you could think of (and a ton of stuff you might not really think of). A flight sim in the r/w is mainly a training tool, and I'd so much love our PC version have some more of this spirit as well, beyond all the amazing eye-candy. I had always thought some virtual instructor station with deep functionality and integration would boots the usefulness of this simulation by orders of magnitude. But oh well, we've not even started with the 10-year period that apparently is to come.
  9. What is that supposed to mean? The Airport episode stated they'd have 80 more detailed airports, and some of them being iconic without stating a number back then. Now with the release information I'd guess these are the 30/35/40 included in the different versions. Don't see any contradiction to what they said. What "missing" 40 should that be?
  10. I'd rather like to know if the current keyboard shortcuts actually have anything to do with what we were used from FSX or so (can't comment on P3D). Haven't simmed in years but those commands have been kept in muscle memory for sure.
  11. Started 23 years ago with FS98. FS2000 and FS2002 followed, then beta'ed FS2004 and FSX. Luckily skipped the entire P3D era as I was shifting into r/w aviation exclusively. So I guess for this sim there could not be a better time to come back.
  12. Uhm, help me out here. On any of the pre-order pages I just see the same new ad pic with the Cub, Airbus and Citation. Nothing of those airports. Where are they?
  13. My FF2 has been sitting on the shelf for the past five years or so, and I'm happy to see it in action soon enough again. Certainly gonna be worth the wait.
  14. No, I totally get what you’re saying. For me it’s that FS98 intro video music I’m hooked to. Childhood memories.
  15. Hmm. They got the implementation of 8.33 kHz channel spacing wrong right from the start so I wonder what other „surprises“ we‘ll find cockpit wise. But I’m an optimist. 😎
  16. I can’t remember this has been commented on. At least in the MP episode where it surely would have belonged was no word on it.
  17. It seems to have an all new camera system. Also with some sort of a drone view. Some have said it‘s a great advancement over past versions. Given the latest trailer there absolutely seem to be wing views etc, and looking at all the footage we’ve seen so far the camera system looks pretty flexible to me. How easy it would be to set up however, that I don’t know.
  18. Nice. I hope there will be one for MSFS. Since I stopped at FSX and that was years ago, and skipped the entire P3D era, I don’t know how that add-on is (although I’m pretty sure I know which one you mean), but if it’ll be available I totally need it. Just for the memories.
  19. Simple, the same thing I've done in every MSFS, just with a little cut. Fire up the C172, go to Chicago (the cut being as CGX isn't around anymore it'll be more like MDW or ORD) and check out the city. It's how I started to explore the FS world over two decades ago, why would I change that. 😁
  20. That's really what I would hope if they are made from Bing imagery. That should at least contribute to some more realistic details than ever before. Hope I'm not wrong. And still I don't know if they also used aeronautical data to build the airports (now given that they have NavBlue as a partner).
  21. Exactly my thoughts. I started with FS98 though, but still. Installed the good old boy on that old laptop just a few weeks ago to bring up some memories. Good times. What an amazing appetizer. That water is phenomenal, (plus pretty much everything else). Also that heat effect. Might be me but I think it looks better in this shot than it did before. Quite convincing. What I noted though: The NYC bridges around 0:55 still have some major problems (they are solid). Geez I would have hoped they could cope with these issues, especially in such a major city. At 1:33 we can only hope this is a non-competent multiplayer guy and not AI. With that height at crossing the threshold he'd fail any check ride. Must have been four reds. Same scene, still no tilting bogies. Hope this will get a fix before release.
  22. That's more or less what they said in FD series episode 6, except for the number 40. They say 80 will receive some special treatment, and they showed airports that are not in yesterday's list (Punta Cana, Miami, Gatwick). The iconic airports will be those of the list, as I understand it. So there seem to be quite some different levels of detail.
  23. Haha, first of all yes I'm serious. And no, not on dumping the sim in any way. And also, not trolling, so I will explain. If you've done IFR approaches in marginal wx (or any wx really, with some airport lighting active) you have a feeling how the ground and airport features look like and interact with their surroundings, plus they are described in official documentation. I'm merely saying it's unacceptable because if they can make it they it was shown in the videos, they can make it right. That is my major point. It certainly is a slight "inaccuracy" looking at the big picture, to use your wording, yet it's unneccessary. That's what ticks me off. It's not like a feature that is completely missing, in fact it's there but so close to being realistic that I find it weird why they just refuse to fix it and make it how it is in reality. Not being a developer, still I maintain it really is a minor step.
