  1. I flew Southern with my parents back in the late 60's to see my sister in Tuscaloosa Alabama. We left Memphis and made multiple stops, one of which was in Tupelo Mississippi. All in a Martin 404. You could look out of the window and see the rivets vibrating in the top of the wing.
  2. You could do this all day long with airlines that were absorbed into other airlines or just changed their names. I started in 1979 with Allegheny Airlines. In 1980 we changed our name to US Air. In 1986 we merged with PSA eliminating that name. In 1987 we merged with Piedmont eliminating that one. In 1997 we changed our name from US Air to US Airways. In 2005 we merged with America West and kept the US Airways name. In 2015 we merged with American Airlines and the US Airways name was gone. The names go away but the history stays with the employees forever, no matter what their uniforms say.
  3. Borman was chairman of Eastern Airlines. United Airlines still exists.
  4. From the deicing bucket in December of 2013. Deicing at DFW was easy money most of the time.
  5. Real men deice in an open bucket. None of that closed cab stuff. That's for girly men.😁
  6. It's Sunday. Someone must be bored so they thought they'd stir the pot a bit. This thread will be locked in 3...2....1.
  7. If you look on YouTube for a site called flightdeck2sim there are a number of videos that are done by a real world 737 pilot using the Zibo mod aircraft.
  8. I spent a good part of my life in those cargo bins.
  9. You might want to post this in the FS Labs forum where they could take a look at it.
  10. I just checked. They say they'll be taking new applications at a later date. I have to believe they'll be ready pretty soon. This process was only supposed to last one month and now they're approaching two months. Keep checking. It's a good VA to fly for.
  11. Yes it is. I believe this is also still in beta.
  12. They're still beta testing the new acars system but you can fly flights if you want to. https://beta.bavirtual.co.uk/
  13. Been there, done that, got the funny yellow suit. You just try not to think about what that is running down the hose. And pray that you did a good job attaching the hose to the fixture. I've seen what happens to people that don't. It ain't pretty.
  14. Airline employees are a funny group. Even though we work for competing companies, we'll help each other out. A lot of times when a competitor needs a pushback unit or an airstart or something of that nature, we'd tell them to go ahead and take it. Just put it back where you got it from and put gas in it. The only thing we wouldn't do is deice another airline's aircraft unless we had a contract with them. Too many insurance ramifications when it came to that.
  15. You shouldn't be out of $40 if you bought through PayPal.
  16. My understanding is that Gulfstream absolutely forbids its aircraft to be reproduced in any computer simulator. That's why we haven't seen one to date.
  17. You are correct. Major commercial airlines are constantly tweaking their schedules. The airline I worked for changed their schedules as often as two to three times per month when I retired in 2016. I'm happy if I get the correct airlines in the airport I happen to be in.
  18. They have forums over at X-Plane.org. You'd probably get more definitive answers there.
  19. Thank you. I wasn't aware that this existed.
  20. I ran into the same issue trying to buy off of the FSDT website. I was purchasing KIAH. George Bush International. Something in the software triggered the same response. I had to pay with a credit card. I never did get a reasonable answer from PayPal.
  21. I heard it will be ready on the twelfth of never.
  22. FSS May be defunct or close to it. A number of developers have pulled their products because of lack of communication.
  23. There's no better place to take pictures than an airport early in the morning before it wakes up.
