  1. Way better than that! You can tune your radios using their interface and your keyboard, it's about ten times faster. The interface may look clunky but it's actually very well thought out. Although, it's a work in progress, you can download a 15 day trial and make your own decisions about how good it is.
  2. I can assure you, I have seen places as they are (as close as flight simulation can get) in real life using simheaven's scenery, World2Xplane and HD mesh V2. The only thing I'd like to have from ORBX are their GA airports. For the rest, I've found better, more accurate scenery.
  3. Mike, for ATC, there's Pilot2atc and it's pretty decent. I'm even willing to go out on a limb and say ti's better than any ATC available other than online traffic control (when you can get it). Check it out.
  4. Hi Larry. Just to let you know, there are many of us who are former FSX enthusiasts just like you. Many still use both sims and it works out nicely for them. As for your questions; 1) You can put X-Plane in any folder you choose on your drive, Make a folder F/xplane if you want. You can just delete this folder if you get tired of the sim, no registry keys to worry about. 2) The Boeing 737-300 you mention is probably the one from IXEG. This one hasn't been released yet. You can find a very good Saab 340 over at X-Pilot that is considered a study level sim. For larger liners, look for the ones from FlyJsim and the Flight Factor 757/777. If you like general aviation, Carenado and Dan Klaue are converting their fleet of GA aircraft with excellent results. Alabeo is doing the same. Vflyteair has the Grumman Traveler and Tiger Ga aircraft that are quite nice also. There are many more but I'll let others chime in. 3) I think they both deserve applause. You'll find jewels under each platform. In general, they're both excellent in the hands of competent designers. I hope this helps a little.
  5. Ryan, you had one of the last posts there, nothing new has been reported since.
  6. The only one I think could fly into a hurricane would be the Hercules. I've never flown this default aircraft though.
  7. They're working on a 330 at the moment, I believe.
  8. Looks really, really good. A team from Hungary it would seem.
  9. I remember the Leonardo also Paul. I also remember struggling with it at the beginning but found one of the best simulations in FSX because I stuck with it and learned how to use it properly. I'm looking forward to comparisons when this is finalized.
  10. This happens in X-Plane. I guess it happens in all simulators. One thing I've learned since moving over to this platform, is to not get my hopes up too quickly. You'll be disappointed more often than not if you keep waiting for something down the line. Lots of phoney baloney's riding the wave. Enjoy what's available.... I've noticed lately, the best add-ons are coming right out of the blue, unannounced.
  11. Michael, I totally agree with you. This does so many things and the asking price was fair, so I bought it also.
  12. Most have been converted using fs2xplane by users with varying success. So, if the developers wanted to convert their scenery, they could. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=44099
  13. That's excellent news Juan. The release timeframe is for August 2014, so it's nearly complete, Fantastic it will run on XPX! Price point...347 euros, so it won't be for everyone but it's the ultimate simulation.
  14. I agree with you Dan. The B200 ( i don't have the C-90 (yet)) is my favorite also. This one is just crazy good. Immensely fun to hand fly, following the flight director is a joy. Carenado is my favorite X-Plane developer at this moment in time. X-Plane is like an iceberg, with a lot yet to be discovered. The potential is phenomenal. Do you think if we bug Austin and Ben enough, we'll get cube (environmental) maps in there at some point? Anyways, I need to thank you for all that you've accomplished for X-Plane. On the subject of clouds, I have linked to one of my videos from early May. These are the Aerosoft SkyTools clouds. I can't remember which sets I was using back then but I think they looked realistic. Watch at 3:05 when the camera is under the 747's wing and look at the clouds above. A magical moment for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE1xqDcI7DI
  15. This discussion is heading in the wrong direction. I think all of the sims mentioned have their own forums. I fail to see why this continues to go on and on....some people need to be reminded this is the X-Plane forum.
  16. Great! This is what I was referring to in our email exchange. I'm anxious to test it in Europe. This software gets better with every update. One thing I think you could do is ask AVSIM if you can set up a forum here. This would greatly ease support issues for you. Just a thought... thanks Dave,
  17. Douglas, the Carenado aircraft may lack systems simulation but they are very close to the real numbers. They are extremely fun to fly and display a believable flight envelope. As for A2A, well, they may change their minds about X-Plane in the future and if they don't, I'm sure we'll survive without them.
  18. Captain420, it includes the GNS 530 and is compatible with X-Plane 10.30 beta! Ray, the King Air 200 is probably one of their best efforts in converting their product line to X-Plane. Easily one of my favorite aircraft at the moment.
  19. Well, looking at posts since November of last year, pretty much everything in their hangar is ruled out. Their legacy offerings are not going to be done for X-Plane and that would probably include their Beechcraft. Maybe the DC-6 or the J41. They have brought in someone with X-Plane know-how, who could that person be? Does Robert Randazzo own a GA aircraft?
  20. By the looks of it, this team is seriously thinking of making an impact on the X-Plane world. Check them out here;http://rotatesim.com/category/x-plane/
  21. Thanks Dave. Just to let you know, I bought this software from Dave and he has been working with me to get it set up correctly with my CH yoke. I'm still experimenting with it but so far, have been having success with short flights. Only real problems encountered were due to pilot error. I've not used ATC in a very long time and I'm rusted. Actually, I suck at ATC communications . This software deserves you download it and give the trial version a spin, you'll be surprised at all the functionality it brings. There are so many great things it can do, like an autopilot where you can use your keyboard to enter heading, course, altitude, v/s etc., so no more fiddling with the gauge dials. Automatic radio frequency look-ups and they are dialed in for you if you wish (no more fumbling with radio dials). Tons more, moving map, access to sectionals in the US, approach plates for the US, import your XPX flight plans or make your own...get it!
  22. A bit sad really, their GA airports are really nice. For the rest, they're obsolete in X-Plane.
  23. Yes, thank goodness for Carenado and Dan Klaue. With the addition of World2Xplane (thank you Tony) and simheaven, well, it's a match made in heaven .GA in X-Plane 10 is magical. Add Pilot2ATC, EFFAS and fly around for a very realistic experience.
