  1. I have discovered DoDoSim Bell-206 Jetranger as a good scenery look-out office. It will keep You busy during flight, but it has a lot of glass in front and sides.
  2. I am pretty sue it is in PMDG's business to have SDK as soon as possible. Hardware drivers, FS2Crew which holds the 737NG sales a bit....I try to believe they do whatever is needed to sort it out quick.
  3. Sorry, that should be: I remember doing two things - changing zoom in cameras.cfg and default flight. Now I do have zoom 1.00 everytime I start a flight. Do You have EZCA by a chance? I believe it sets 0.4 in zoom
  4. I use water from REX (much better IMO), but clouds and ground textures from AS2012. AS clouds looks much more better when flying through them, but REXs are much dramatic (I use them when METAR says they are high and I do have a helo or other low flyer). You can tick/untick options in both tools to install or not specific group. In my case REX will have the water-related options marked, while AS12 everything besides water. Now everytime I install different set in REX, only water will change. I think it is clear enough.PS Both clouds have exactly the same performance here.
  5. There is a %AppData%MicrosoftFSXCameras.cfg file. Open it with NotePad and seek for:[CameraDefinition.xxx]Title = Virtual Cockpit //If You want to change VC zoomInitialZoom = 0.7 //switching to 1.0 will give You 0.7 zoom scalar in a new flight and when resetting zoom
  6. Two is not too many :)For me that would be AS2012/ASE and EZCA
  7. I also had this lock-up issue (A22 version, W7 x64) and send the device to GF. It tooks ~6 weeks and cost me approx. 25 USD total. Worth it. USB 1.0 is a no go for me (too many devices, no place inside the case for additional card)
  8. I would put the OS on SSD (~20GB for clean Win7 Pro). Also keep there add-ons which have plenty of small files (RC4 for example).
  9. I believe it is SKINNED_ANIMATIONS under [DISPLAY] section but not 100% sure. Please check, if fsx.cfg is not read only and FSX did not crash when exited.
  10. OK, 'sick' word was exaggerated a little bit. Maybe it is a fun for some of us to speculate, but some of us will be spending time here to know anything valuable and consider pros and cons whatever switch to FSXI or not. I still think, it would be good idea to split the forum to pre/post initial release of MS Flight to preserve the readers time and to keep the place clean.
  11. Flying over the fence has a new meaning for us :)What was the VS of the box? Should we consider calling it 'driving to the ground', 'firmly landing'? Not a greaser for sure!
  12. Dan, do You have any axis mapped as spoilers? There is no axis in JS, it is a flip-flop switch.I have mapped 'spoilers arm' on GF-T8, but it does not work for JS, so I have to dig for the mouse and click the switch in VC. It always worked for me and it is the only way to arm them in my pit...Throttles idle, Weight On Wheels, reverse thrust, spoilers armed - that is all needed, maybe You just missed something from here. Double check the throttles calibration maybe.
  13. If You shutdown engines and try to start them again, You will melt them in a second. Restarting is pretty well documented in AOM. Please take You time to read it and master the bird.In case of restarting the engines, put the starter to manual, do a ventilation run. Wait until temps drop below 200deg F (with GPU connected, Your battery will handle it with ease), and switch to ignition. Voila
  14. I believe during dusk and dawn, FSX uses twice the data amount when 'dusk/dawn smoothing' is on (fsx.cfg setting). But YMML is a contributing factor here. Try to repeat the flight during the day, reduce clouds (distance, coverage)For my taste, 1024 DXT5 clouds have almost no difference from 4096 32bit, but has much more performance
  15. Chrysler's seat are pretty nice for flight simming: cheap, leather and two armrests. But there is no 'hole' for the Yoke column...
  16. AFAIK FSX writes changes to fsx.cfg at exit. So I guess You only have to manually change the settings prior to launching fsx.exe.The easiest way to check it (if it is resetting right after manipulating any of the slider or at ext) is setting huge amount of LOD_Radius (which also reverts to no more than 4.5) before launching app, then change any other slider in graphics section and check the results
  17. You can find the config in %AppData%/Roaming/HiFi/ASE/ASE.cfg as I believe (that's for Vista and W7)
  18. Did You try to approach with spoilers armed and outside view? If they do not want to rise, just flip the switch and pretend it is deployed, checklist item completed :)After all, spoilers down will prolong the landing distance by ~8 % only
  19. tell us what addon livery provides You so much trouble, it would be great to know something more about this bird. This is a COMMUNITY, so it is always a good idea to share Your findings with others. Some day they will share theirs with You.
  20. It is beginning to make me sick of reading stuff in here. Speculations, speculations.... Nothing valuable. There is only one poll which sums up almost every single topic in here.My guess is to rename the subforum to The Microsoft Flight Speculators Forum. Then You might guess, if it will be Hawaii, will there be jets, will Your PC handle it, will Your gear work with it, will it allows port-overs form FS2004, will there be overcast textures, will there be sloped runways, will there [put in here anything You can wish of] .....
  21. I have not noticed ANY difference between 32bit/4096x4096 and DXT5/1024x1024 3D clouds. But I do noticed huge difference in performance.
  22. Chris, I totally forget about this... Anyway, after few hours of tuning and tweaking, I decided to use old halo.bmp though. It is impossible to have all the runway lights more or less in scale together with 'supernova' AI landing lights and UTX night lightning. Thanks for the tip anyway!
  23. You can install it - it will have its own directory. I still keep ASE, but do not use it anymore. Although I do not temped myself to launch them both :)
  24. I believe A2A Simulation replaces the default crash FX. Take a look at their forum and give it a try in P-47 or Spit Mk I / II
  25. I liked the enbseries very much, but always hate the blur it generates... After 'Shade' hit the market, I just uninstall thisAnyway, I'd like to see the above link working and give a try. Thanks for sharing!
