  1. Which ones? I don't keep any lists but I'm relating to freeware airports available on avsim. You have to do this bit by yourself and find out by trial and error. Summarizing. I have what is considered a very decent and well balanced equipment to run fsx. J can push it to Max and get high fps but guaranteed oom. Limit is that users expect toooo much from software which can't handle it - nor does prepared. Until one of those - and prepar is to be most likely the one - goes 64 bit, you have to learn how to balance. But of course no one will agree to my opinion. Chasing rabbits is more fun. So have fun. (I wish to see faces of those spending thousands of $ on new rig and the oom they'll get 5 seconds after plane is loaded in FTX PNW at the gate without any action - sliders to the right)
  2. I must say that UT2 takes from 150 to 200 of VAS. I wonder how other ai solutions work - like My Traffic Pro. Any one knows?
  3. This is not going to cure OOM. I have the same processor and card and memory. But first things first: 1. CTD - I don't have those. I had fsx not responding issues but those were related to corrupted freeware scenery; 2. OOM - yes I had those. I have reduced my UT2 to about 75% - not only I gained fps, but also vas was reduced; 3. Add on freeware sceneries. I discovered that many of them are the main problems that cause either CTD - fsx not responding or high vas usage - pure memory leak. Stock sceneries - you are fine. Pay ware from many developers - you are fine. 4. Disabling sceneries that I'm not flying over or to from. Done it. Helped. How I'm flying. I got rig as described above. I have also SSD drives but this is not helping. I do use 777 & 737. I have ASN and Rex4. I'm not using textures higher than stock 1024, but this week plan to start going into 2048 to see any improvements or not. I have FS Global, Ftx global plus open lc plus vector with all details ticked on. I do use Steve DX10 fixer and that has also improved a lot. Having said the above you can start playing. I'm not sure that prepar3d will help you at this moment. I'd wait until they move into 64 bit - even if you have to pay a bit more for new pmdg licenses. I can really fly with 30 fps plus in NYC JFK and EGLL. Good luck, but don't waste your money yet.
  4. Oh my God. I read and can't believe that all of above got themselves into spin switched on by PMDG The whole price thing is typical market resarch: "Lets throw a number and wait and see what the reaction will be". Pricing will not be higher than usual product - it can't be. Look at competition. Giving prices 3x higher is like cutting the branch you are sitting on. They won't do it. I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with something like "for current owners, who wish to do some enhanced training bla bla bla we have special offer... :)" On the side note - I love my NGX and Triple 7. Can't wait for 747
  5. Hi, I have used new inspector but with 297 drivers and got CDT. I set up this FXAA to enabled. Killed my flight 5NM from ToD into KSEA :( I gues it must be run with new drivers. BTW i have "old" 480.
  6. Sure you have to, however it can happen that alternate is not the choice that you can take or will take. That is why operators set their own rules as well which can be more strict than official published ones. Just to be on safe side.
  7. As for take off minima... remember that sometimes, very often actually, plane that just took off has to return to same airport. Again, usually due to technical problems. So there are lots of reasons.
  8. AS for Thunderstorms... this time we can see those towering clouds in from and deviation for wx finally makes sense.
  9. Gentleman, he never responded go my q, which was about baro setting. If this thing is not set up, cat3 will not arm.
  10. What about altimeter setting? Are you on radio? What about minimums setting on PFD? Seems like you forget absolute basics.
  11. ASE can cause stutters only while uploading weather in standard mode. However you get this effect with other products as well.
  12. I am not sure, but I can point at AV software. I have Norton and recently got rid of it and have far better results. But perhaps it is better for Damian to give input on this.
  13. Exactly, plus you can verify data with any weather aviation page ovailable thru google. As for Chris above comment... not reliable? Do you have something to compare it with? Any data, so we can all judge? Listen, I also did not believe on many accasions in certain weather outputs... but someone once explained to be exactly what is on fore-casted weather page and how ASE relates to it... well it was pretty damn accurate.
  14. I am not from HiFi, but believe me, I can tell you that ASE data is from very accurate servers worldwide. You can compare data with below:http://www.flyingine...eather_maps.htmAnd I also was once very curious, but life is life and answer can be easily found.
  15. *******... did you ever went to read a bit of basic manual?FYI - engine ice protection is activated.
  16. BTW - did you pay attention to winds aloft? What can you say here for difference? :)
  17. You know what, I think I have to give it a try.Added value - just to name a few:1. Correct wind aloft;2. No sudden wind shifts - especially for those who do not want to buy FSUIPC;3. Sweet visibility graduation - no fog do not disappears at 1500ft so FSX bug is fixed;4. Perfect fog simulation;
  18. Joel, I think that you do not know what ASE DWC is, correct? DWC is a global weather mode, meaning that if you fly 80nm from field, the weather at this wield will be reported as it is at your altitude. Thats why so many people love it or hate it. FSX ATC is useless, as it can not read correct weather that ASE has for arrival, it reads current situation. So far only RC is able to do it correctly - at least this is the only one known to me.Now, I would like to try something new, however if VOX will behave like FSX ATC while using DWC, this is useless for me. Ok, there is trial version, but I also ask in order to avoid something that is not working correctly. Now, I still have more doubts than solutions...So, if you are using ASE, are you able to provide answer based on my explanation above? I really appreciate your help.
  19. Yeah, but what about if in ASE DWC mode, destination airport weather is the same as yours at altitude? How Vox will know which rwy to give? In RC they managed to sole this problem. It sounds too good to be true - you know.
  20. I am terrible with screens :) but do this...Enhance route coverage - ON;Additional stations - ON;Make sure you file flight plan to ASE.Set visibility graduation to something like 10,000 feet.Set a flight somewhere where it is foggy. For that Europe might be good choice now, as there are fogs all around the continent since a week. Take a flight and tell me how it was.
